Both of them shrugged as Madison continued to drive to Kyla’s house.  We were silent the rest of the way there, the radio playing in the background.  Madison pulled into Kyla’s driveway and we all got out of her car, grabbing our stuff in the process.  We went inside and trudged our way up the stairs to her room, all of us throwing our stuff down simultaneously. 

”Pizza?”

In unison, Maddy and I said, “Pizza.”

Kyla nodded and picked up her phone making quick work of ordering the usual.  It didn’t really matter where we were, it always went the same way; it was tradition now.  We only asked out of habit at first but then it became tradition to ask.

”So what are we going to watch?” I grabbed three waters out of the mini fridge.

”My vote is for a horror movie.”

”I say a drama,” Kyla chimed in after she hung the phone up.

They always picked the same things to watch, “Romantic comedy,” as did I.

We all walked towards each other so we were standing together, “Rock, paper, scissors.”

“I won so drama it is!”

Madison and I just shrugged in defeat, it wasn’t the fairest way to decide what kind of movie we would watch but it worked for us, “Alright, well who is going to wait and pay for the pizza while the other two set up?”

”Since I know neither of you really want to run into Ashley, I’ll wait for the pizza and you two can go set up.  You remember how to do that?”

Maddy answered, “Yeah, at least, I do. So, if Spence doesn’t, I’ll just show her.”

”Perfect.  Put The Time Traveler’s Wife on and I’ll be with you two soon.”

I frowned slightly, “Um, where is Ashley?”

Kyla sighed and paused with her hand on the doorknob, “Relax Spence, she isn’t here.  If she was, we would have seen her car in the driveway.  Anyway, even though she is supposed to come home tonight, she may not come home till midnight or later or she may not even come home at all.”

As I watched Kyla leave, I couldn’t help but mumble, “I’m hoping for the later.”
