    South Of Nowhere – 2.15 – Things Meant To Be

     

     

                Glen struggled to his feet.  He’d been home most of the week.  It was Friday afternoon, and he knew the team was playing tonight.  Aiden had bailed on them earlier in the week.  Glen didn’t understand what he was thinking.  He was the STAR now, why was he hiding from the spotlight?  What a dolt.  He went to the bathroom, finding the bottle of painkillers he’d been prescribed.  The pain wasn’t all that bad, he just wanted to numb the pain in the rest of his body as well as in his gimp knee.

     

                He heard a noise behind him, swallowing the pill quickly, chasing it with a splash of water from the skin, and turned around.  “Hey mom.”  Glen said, as Paula graced the top of the stairs. 

     

                “Hey, how’s my son?” 

     

                “Bummed,” Glen told her honestly, “bored out of my mind.”

     

                “How about we catch the game?”  Paula offered.  Glen didn’t know what to say, his mom was trying to make a connection with all of them again.  If he said no, she would think it was him not wanting to be with her.  If he said yes, he’d have to sit and watch Aiden blow his chance at being the star.

     

                “Yeah.  Why not, only if I get to have a greasy cheeseburger afterwards.”  He stated.

     

                “You’ve got a date.  Where are Spence and Clay?”  Paula asked, looking around the hallway, knowing it was to quiet in the house.

     

                “Spencer has this project to do, and got stuck doing it with Madison….”  Glen grumbled, and Paula tried not to snicker.  “Clay is with his woman.”

     

                “Hmm.”  Paula groaned.  Glen rolled his eyes.

     

                “Let’s go beautiful Mom of mine.”  Paula extended her hand, and Glen winked at her.  Time to go watch a basketball game.

                Spencer was sitting in the library, across from Madison.  Both girls were unhappy with the fact that they had been paired together.  They were even more unhappy that Aiden and Ashley had been paired together, Spencer wasn’t sure about Ashley spending so much time with Aiden, it made her nervous.

And you know, I think it was good for Paula to see Spencer hug Ashley from behind…maybe she’ll only get over her whole homophobia if she sees how happy Spencer is with Ashley. HA! Yeah, who am I kidding? If she tries to break Spashley up, may Paula get hit in groin with a porcupine. Mwahaha! Can’t wait for another update!!! :D oh p.s….did you send me a PM? If so, how the heck do I check it?
