This was supposed to be easy – (Chapter: Getting to know you)
That night we stayed on the phone for hours. The conversation flowed so easily between us we talked about everything and we joked around a lot. There’s nothing like a girl who knows how to make me laugh and for me to do the same for her. Did I mention that she gets on my nerves for making me feel the way that I do? So anyway like I said we talked about everything like we have known each other forever. She is new from Ohio and is glad that she was finally out of that place. She told me that she didn’t like it there because she never felt like she could be herself. Now I am not the one to assume so I had to ask her what she meant by that:
"What do you mean?"
"Well for the longest time I have known what and who I wanted but I was not able to express that freely in Ohio so when I found out we were moving I couldn’t have been more excited."
I knew what she was talking about but I had to hear her say it before I decided on what my next move was going to be.
"So what was it that you wanted?"
"Duh Ashley come on I know you know what I am talking about," I played dumb. "I like girls okay and I couldn’t be all out with it without getting stoned where I live ya know?"
"Yeah but you do know that just because you are in L.A. now doesn’t mean that you won’t catch grief for being who you are, trust me I know there are haters in L.A. too."
"Yeah I know, but I feel more comfortable out here."
"Yeah I can’t tell by the way you were pushing up on me yesterday." I joked
"Puh–lease, don’t get mad at me because I beat you couldn’t handle the game I was running."
"You’re real funny because I invented the game so whatever "game" you thought you were running has been done before and is nothing new." Now I was just playing with the girl but after that was said she got quiet so I started to feel a little guilty.
"I am just joking with you," was all that I could come up with
"I know, it just bothered me a little because…" she pauses "Because I like you Ashley and ever since I met you yesterday I haven’t been able to get you out of my head."
Her honesty took me by surprise. I like this girl to but I never thought about what I would do if she actually liked me liked me. I know how I am and I know that if anything happens between us she would get hurt. Why I cared, I have no idea maybe it was those eyes; whatever it is she makes me want to be different but I can’t not right now. I barely know her and I already want to change, what have I gotten myself into.
"Hello" she takes me out of my thoughts. I guess I need to give her a warning.
"Listen, um you are new here and we are still in the process of getting to know each other," "I am going to be honest with you I like you too, but I don’t want to go there with you….not yet."
"Oh" she sounds so disappointed it almost makes me feel like recanting.
"Normally I would, but I feel like we should wait a little while because I know that once you get to school you will hear things about me and most of them are probably true so just wait and see how you feel after you find out what I am all about."
"Ok," she says "But I get the feeling that whatever people have to say about you it won’t change anything."
She really knows how to lay it on a girl…damn this was supposed to be easy, but it is clear that once you start to care things just get harder but maybe she is worth it….
*With the next chapter I plan to move it along, I know it is a little slow but I think how it began is important. I have experienced the ending so I guess that is why I am focusing on the beginning so much…do yall get what I am saying? Also I apologize for the length I am kinda winging it lol
