    Waiting – (Chapter: Friday Night)

“I don’t care. You pick.” I hate deciding. I think she tries to make me pick just to torture me.

“Spencer Marie Carlin!” Uh oh. The full name. Not good. “At some point in your life you are going to have to make a decision.”

“I know. Please don’t make that be now. Please Ash.” I look at her with my best puppy dog look and make my eyes big for her. I see her start to crumble.

“Fine. You get to pick next time though. That look isn’t going to work for everything.”

    “It works for you.”

“That’s just because you are incredibly cute when you do it. One day I’m going to be immune to it.” Wow. I think my face just broke the records of how many shades of red someone can turn. Ashley just called me cute.

“I guess I’ll have to figure out another way to convince you then.” Oh my god. Her eyes just got so dark. I’ve never seen that before. What was that? Was that…? Nah. I’m going crazy. She wouldn’t look at me like that. I’m just hoping she would.

    “Out or in?”

    “Excuse me?”

“Are we going out or are we staying in?” Wow Spencer. You really need to get your head on straight. Not everything is dirty. Jeez.

“Um. Let’s stay in.” That way I don’t have to share this goddess with anyone else.

    “Okay. Movie?”

    “Yes.”

“Okay. I know! The best movie ever made. Where did I put that?” What is she looking for? She is almost all the way in her DVD collection when she finally pulls out holding a case like it’s the Holy Grail. “A League of Their Own! No one can beat Dottie Henson.”

    “Except Kit.”

    “What?”

“She drops the ball Ash. She lost.”

“We will not discuss this topic right now. It is far too painful.”

    “Are you going to cry?”

“No. There’s no crying in baseball.”

“Put the movie in Jimmy, before you start spitting tobacco onto my shoes.”

I can’t believe Ashley Davies loves A League of Their Own. I thought she was going to cry when Dottie dropped the ball. She never ceases to amaze me. I don’t think I could love anyone as much as I love Ashley. She is so tortured by her past but she is so pure in her heart. I hope I can be a part of that purity one day.
