We're Going Down – (Chapter: All I Wanted Was You)
The weeks went on and as the weather became colder my heart became more and more entranced with this girl. I had learned so much about her through my observing every day, and even though I still felt like a stalker I had accepted this fact. A few days before Halloween I was kind of down because Ashley hadn’t been in classes today. It was then that I realized I was falling way too hard for this girl. My friends had noticed I wasn’t the old Spencer and finally asked me about it one day at lunch.
“Spence, you haven’t been on a date since September, and it’s nearly Halloween. Are you okay?” Madison looked at me with concerned eyes. I couldn’t help but laugh a little. I was totally okay with not dating, since it made me want what I couldn’t have so much more.
“Yeah I’m okay. I just don’t really care about dating as much right now. Thought it was about time to focus on school, ya know?” I guess they didn’t know because Madison, Chelsea, and even Aiden were looking at me with bug eyes. “What guys?”
“I just never thought I would hear that from my kid sister.” Aiden said with a still shocked look. “You’ve always been such a player.”
“Hey, I’m not a player.”
“Spence, you kind of are. Or well, were. I guess you aren’t anymore.”
“I resent that you know.”
I sulked in my seat which made Madison laugh out loud. “Spencer what girl has got you this messed up?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Oh no, I think I’m about to get found out. Chelsea, Madison, and Aiden all looked at me. “What? I’m not messed up about anyone.” And cue skeptical looks.
“It’s Ashley isn’t it?” Fuck. How do they know me so well?
“No.” Please be convincing…
“It’s totally Ashley.” Madison smiled since she knew she had guessed right.
“Okay guys I’m leaving now.” I got up and left the cafeteria. I didn’t want to face them right now and I certainly didn’t want to admit that they were right.
I decided there was no reason for me to go to my afternoon classes so I ditched and started walking home. My house was only a couple miles from the school and I could use the walk. Besides, Aiden wouldn’t be thrilled if he came out of school and saw his car gone. I decided to turn the opposite way to my house though and head to Ego. I knew they were open during the day as a coffee shop and coffee sounded great right now.
