What Nourishes Your Soul? – (Chapter: Chapter Two)

But, she didn’t have to Roland broke the silence, “You know what it looks like an artist communion exploded in this place.” Ashley looked around for the first time noticing the customers in this place weren’t what you would expect for a hard to get in place such as this. Like the waiters everyone looked like they were artists or musicians, eccentrically dressed, talking animatedly with frequent hard gestures. She smiled, “ I really like it, its almost comforting.” “It makes me feel uncomfortable, I feel out of place.”, Veronica said with a slight up-turned nose. Of course you do blondie, you are so generic and unable to have a unique intelligent thought in your head, no wonder you feel out of place, she thought to herself but, simply smiled on the outside. “Yeah Ashley, not all of us could grow up in a house with a rock star father and artist mother. Us normal people are a little uneasy.”, Roland joked making Veronica smile. Ashley glared at her boss from across the table, what the hell was normal anyway. She loved her children, her mother had died when she was seven so when her father remarried a young French artist her household went from odd to downright eccentric. Their house was always full of musicians and artists. So, it was harder when she was young granted but, when she grew to a teenager the girl started to love the lifestyle. She really liked her step-mother, she was very young so she was more like a older sister than a mother really. Ashley really missed that life. A day never went by when she didn’t feel inspired and she loved every minute of it.

Sighed she quickly changed the subject to the first thing that she could think of, “So how was food, you guys enjoy it?” “It was very tasty.”, Veronica said blankly. Of course “Little Miss Inspirational”, would enlighten us with such a response, ridiculous, Ashley thought trying her best not to say something sarcastic in response. “Mine was unbelievable!!”, Roland exclaimed. “I know, right!”, Ashley replied with a huge grin thinking back to her meal. Roland continued, ”The critic in the paper said eating here is like a religious experience. The things the chef does with food is incredible, genius even.”, Ashley’s boss says to the client trying to impress her. Ashley suddenly felt out of her comfort zone tonight, something had made her lose the cocky charmer persona that she used around most people and she didn’t like it. So, she decided to get that Ashley back, a idea popped into her head as she leaned in a little closer to Veronica with a small devious grin.
