White Lightning – (Chapter: With All The Demons I Possess)

“I can see that.” Ashley responded still completely grossed out by the pile of neon orange fries laying in the gutter. She stopped right next to her sister and put a hand on her shoulder. Kyla looked at her with dilated pupils.

    “Is it dizzy in here?”

“You get used to it just take deep breaths and keep walking. We have to get to Spencer’s,” Ashley led Kyla by the hand down the street slowly. Cars were racing by and the younger brunette wanted to pause and marvel at them. Ashley kept a steady pace and they were almost to Spencer’s when Kyla spotted it. Her mouth dropped open and her eyes bugged out of her head as she observed the tall metal pole.

“STOP LIGHT!” She exclaimed tugging on Ashley’s hand hard and making the girl come to a full and complete stop. Both girls sat enthralled at the corner of the street, watching as the light changed colors.

“I KNOW!” Ashley gushed pointing up at it.

“Oh my god it’s sooooo pretty,” Kyla whispered.

“Look! Look! There it goes!” Ashley said pointing as the light began to change. Kyla’s eyes were glued to the traffic signal and she began to jump for joy.

    “RED LIGHT!”

“GREEN LIGHT!” Yelled Ashley. They both waited patiently ignoring the traffic that was blazing through the intersection and then it happened.

“Yelllllllllllllllllooooooooow light!” Sang Kyla happily and they turned away reluctantly heading in the direction of Spencer’s apartment.

“Isn’t it amazing?” Asked Ashley glancing behind her to take one final peek at the traffic signal. Kyla sighed heavily beside her and put her head on her shoulder.

“We definitely need these in the future. Even if it’s just for novelty,” Kyla decided. Ashley chuckled lightly and ignored her sister quickening the pace as she saw the tall shadow of Spencer’s building emerge from the inky darkness.

“Is there anything I should know about my future sister-in-law before I meet her?” Kyla inquired bumping her hip against Ashley’s and throwing the smaller girl about two feet to the right.

“Ow. Yeah. That she’s mine. I remember how you were when we were little, always trying to take stuff that I had. Not that she’s a toy but you know what I mean,” Ashley replied shoving Kyla by the shoulder. The girl was still a little off balance so she went flying into a lamppost at breakneck speed and bonked her head.
