Oh, no. I never told her we weren’t OUT yet. Well, I am, but Spencer isn’t.

Glen: “What about Spencer?”

I jumped up and took Kyla by the hand and drug her off.

I called over my shoulder to Glen and Aiden.

Ashley: “Bathroom break.”

I lead her to the nearest bathroom and I made sure no one was in it. I turned to her and exhaled.

Kyla: “Ash, are you ok?”
Ashley: “Spencer and I… People can’t know about us. I am out, but she isn’t and that baboons ass named Glen is her brother. Her mom and Glen are crazy homophobic and if he ever found out it would be the end of s.”
Kyla: “Oh, god. I’m so sorry Ash. That was a close one.”
Ashley: “I’ll say.”

Just then the bell rang. I looked for Spencer in the crowd of people trying to go to their next class. I still didn’t see her. Kyla and I happened to have the next class together so I took advantage of my late pass and spent my time going all over the school looking for her. If we got caught I would just say I was showing her around. Once there were no more students in the halls I took Kyla to our class and settled in disappointed.

Spencer was never out of school, but maybe she was today. That had to be the case. I hope she isn’t sick. Maybe I could make her some soup if she was. I stopped worrying about her so much and endured the rest of the school day. At least Kyla was there to keep my mind busy. She ended up having a lot of classes with me so that was good. It was weird I had a sister the same age as me. I was older, but not by much.

School was finally over. Kyla and I were headed to my car when I saw Spencer climbing into the back of her moms car. Ok, what’s going on? She was here all day and I didn’t run into her not even once. That’s it. I decided I was going to go over to Spencer’s right now. Kyla and I got in my car and I drove off to Spencer’s.
