Within Temptation – (Chapter: 36: Where oh where could Spencer be?)

    Ashley the secretary’s Pov

I love how upset they get when they realize their child is missing. I love seeing the regret in their eyes. I know they are thinking “if I just didn’t send them here in the first place they could be safe at home. If only I had accepted them in the first place.” Once they have that fear and worry in their hearts it makes them forget about their gay child for a little while and makes them focus on the fact that it is still their child.

The woman actually wrote her phone number as clear as day, but I may have turned the 3 into an 8. It would be the only way to answer her questions of why she didn’t get our phone call. Other than the fact that I never called anyone in the first place.

    I love my job.

    Arthur’s Pov

I was just finishing up work when my cell phone went off. Paula.

    Arthur: “Hello?”
    Paula: “Spencer is missing!”

Guess my little plan is working quicker than I thought.

Arthur: “Yeah, I know. You wont tell me where you took her.”
Paula: “She isn’t there anymore. SHE IS MISSING!”
Arthur: “I don’t even know where you took her to begin with. You should have known better than to just dump her off somewhere that wasn’t her home and expect her to be safe.”
Paula: “Oh, don’t give me your crap right now. We need to call the police.”
    Arthur: “Is that really necessary?”
Paula: “YES! How else are we going to find her?”
Arthur: “Beats me. I’ve been wondering that for about a day longer than you have.”

I was being so cold to her. She deserves it though. How dare she treat Spencer that way and then act so concerned when she is missing. I know she loves her, but she has one hell of a way of showing it.

Paula: “Fine, I took her to a rehab center. They said she was locked up in her room but they went to check on her and she was gone. Her room was still locked, but it was empty.”
    Arthur: “Spencer is no Houdini.”
Paula: “Arthur this is absolutely no time for jokes. What if she is hurt?”
Arthur: “Then wouldn’t that be your fault?”
