“Oh… I didn’t know that.  She’s seems really open with her sexual relationships and stuff, so I just assumed a lot of people knew she isn’t really happy with her relationship with Madison, my bad.” I reply kinda feeling bad now for asking Ashley all these questions about herself when she never thought of them before…I mean I just thought she heard them all before.

“Well… I’m thinking it was fine with her because she didn’t get mad or not answer you by going inside.  And by the way, Ashley and me are in the same grade.  Christine just decided to send us both to kindergarten the same year so it would make her oh so horrible life easier…and she wanted more time to follow Raife on the road, so it actually just made our au pair’s life easier,” Kyla said being sarcastic about her mom…who wasn’t even around anymore.  After Raife passed away when we were in seventh grade, Christine basically moved to New York to find another boy toy, at least that’s what Kyla said.  She just left money for them and visited at the end of every month to take care of the bills, or so her assistant could take care of the bills.  Kyla did say she loved her au pair, who was from Switzerland, Martina. 

“Oh…I didn’t realize that.  So how old is Ashley then?” I ask Kyla.

“Well.. She’s fifteen now, but she’ll be 16 in September.  So she’s like about a year and a half older than you and me.  Oh, and the reason she always drives is because Christine is never home and she looks a lot older than 15, so most people never question it.  She’s a good driver too…that helps,” Kyla explains smiling.

“Wow… so your lives aren’t complicated at all then?” I joke with her.

“Nahh.  Not really.  And for the record, if I was gay I would totally think you’re really hot.  Ashley is definitely not out of your league,” Kyla says referring to my comments earlier.

“Thanks Ky, but at this point I think I’ll just take my friends where I can get them… I’ll worry about a girlfriend and/or Ashley later,” I tell her flipping onto my stomach so I can tan my back.

“So you are admitting you have a crush on my sister! I knew it! This is sooo exciting!” Kyla practically screams as she flips over too.

“Seriously girl, you need to calm down…. Now tell me more about this Aiden kid.  I’ve only met him like three times, so I want to know more,” I say changing the subject again….I must be really good at that.

“There you go changing the subject again, but I’ll allow it just ‘cuz I really want to know your opinion and I love talking about me and him…and Ashley refuses to talk about him with me so we mostly just talk about……..you,” Kyla says almost whispering the last part, but I still hear her.  And maybe I’m not so good at changing the subject secretly…wait did she just say they mostly talk about me?!? 

I kinda let her slide on the slip-up about talking about me with Ashley and just ignore the last part of the sentence, “Ha, yeah I know you love talking about him and I love how we can deeply scrutinize everything about your little fake relationship/friendship/back-and-forth flirting thing.  We have plenty of time before the concert, so let me hear any and all new developments in your love life,” I tell Kyla laughing.

So Kyla and I just kept talking the rest of the day while we tanned and jumped in the pool a little.  She told me how she thinks she likes Aiden, but doesn’t really want a commitment because she feels like it will just end in heartache and unhappiness, kind of how Ashley really isn’t happy with her arrangement, even though she said its fine.  We talked a little bit about how I do really like Ashley even though I just met her for a few hours, I feel like there was a connection….no matter how cheesy that sounds.

It was almost time to get ready for the concert, and Ashley just called to say she was on her way home to get ready too.  I was just really pumped for this concert and more time with Ashley…and Kyla of course.
