chapter 3

“God Spence, what did you do to her. That’s the fifth time in the last minutes she’s looked over here.” Michelle says.

 I told her about my encounter with Ashley and how I’m over her. Witch is a big lie and she knows it. We’ve been in the diner for about ten minutes and I have yet to look Ashley’s way. Michelle says Ashley can’t keep her eyes off of me. While any other time I’d be happy about that, after yesterday I’m not. I don’t want her to be looking at me because she wants to apologize for the way she acted or something. I want here to want me or at least my friendship because she really wants it. Not just out of guilt for being a bitch.

“Whatever, she can look all she wants. I’m done.” I say standing. “I’m going to the restroom.” I tell Michelle. Not even two whole minutes pass before the restroom door opens and I catch Ashley’s eyes in the mirror. She opens her mouth to say something when the restroom door opens again and two little girls and an older women walks in. I look back in the mirror to see Ashley’s retreating back.

When I get back to our table, Michelle asks me what happen in the restroom. I guess she seen Ashley follow me in, I tell her nothing happen and we finish our drinks and leave. On the way out I look over at Ashley. She’s helping someone at the counter. I sigh and walk out. I’m so not over her.

“She’s such a whore. I heard…” I go into my own little world at this point. For the last half in hour, I’ve been listening to Jill, Aaron’s girlfriend talk about everybody that walks past us. We’re at some lame ass party I let him talk me into coming to. I was surprised at first when Michelle declined the offer to come too.  Then she told me she was just acting out to get her parents attention, their work alcoholics. I guess it worked because she’s been spending a lot of time with her mom, I’m happy for her. I’m just not happy that she took the partying and acting out approach to getting their attention. All have to talk to her about that.
