Everybody silently nodded their head. Nobody made eye contact. Even Madison had the decency to understand the reason why and knew she couldn’t tell anyone about this.

After five minutes of silence Ashley’s jumped up and said “Right im off, ill catch you all later, thanks for a good time” and with a parting smile to Spencer she began to walk away.

“Hey im gonna catch up with ash, shell give me a lift home ill catch you all later” and with that she jumped up and ran after Ashley.

When she eventually caught her up she came level to her and began walking at the same pace. They both smiled at each other but neither spoke.

When they reached Ashley’s car they both just stood and looked to each other both willing the other to break the silence.

Spencer broke the eye contact and found something interesting to look at on her converses. “Spence, do you err… wanna lift home?”

Spencer’s head shot up as she smiled “Yeah that would be cool”

They both got into the car and Ashley started up the engine and began pulling away from the car park. After five minutes Ashley glanced at Spencer who had been watching her the whole time.

“What?” Ashley asked innocently.

“You know, iv always thought you were the hottest girl ever, but I dunno you look even hotter when your pregnant” Spencer drawled

Ashley laughed softly “Well I suppose that is defiantly better than, you look fatter when you’re pregnant”

Spencer laughed with her, and then they fell silent again. After a few moments Ashley pulled up at Spencer’s house. And they sat there for a few minutes.

“Thanks for listening to me today Spence. I feel like a weight’s been lifted off my shoulders….”

“Ash, all you had to do was come and find me I would have been there for you, sure am pissed, was pissed at you but you didn’t need to go through all that on your own…. I wish you’d have spoken to me…”

“Yeah I wish I had too…. So you’re not pissed at me anymore then?” Ashley pleaded.

“Hmmm… I dunno you still owe me big time but im sure its nothing a few doughnuts on a morning cant fix” Both girls smiled sweetly to each other.

“I better go in, ring me if you need me and if you don’t….. Well ring me anyway, ok?” Spencer said softly.

For the first time in months things were beginning to look up for Ashley.

“I will, thank’s again Spence, you truly are the most amazing chick ever!” Ashley smiled that she could speak with her best friend again.

“Goodnight ash ill speak to you soon” Spencer leant over and kissed Ashley, it was meant to be on the cheek but Ashley had turned her face and their lips brushed gently.

Spencer walked up the path to her door and before shutting it gave ash a huge smile and a wave.
