Kit: Well, you’ve had more time to process this change; she’s still shocked and likely hurt as well. Even if she was pushing you toward that cliff of divorce, you’ve made the last push over the edge. It never feels good to be dumped. Once you are gone and she’s had some time she’ll calm down. I’m not sure if she will have a catharsis and say “Oh my god what have I done” or do as she says and start a life with a man.
Bette: Can we not talk Tina? I’m here on a dinner date with my big sister; surely we have more fun things to chat about, like our Vegas getaway.
Kit: I still can’t believe you let me plan this one!
Bette: Well, you are the big star in the family and I know you know Vegas, so I’m “with you” in Vegas.
Kit: Yea, I still got a few connections that pulled through, but man there are so many new places there.
Bette: What time is our flight tomorrow? It’ll be nice to be there mid week, I’ve never done Vegas mid week, seems decadent. The sisters chuckle
Kit: Well, I’ll still work the breakfast rush so I booked an 11am flight, we can leave The Planet by 9 and that will be plenty of time. I’ll just leave my bag by the door and you can bring it when you swing by to get me, cool?
Bette: Yea, that’s fine.
Kit: I’m going to pass on dessert tonight, too many great calories awaiting us in Vegas.
Bette: Works for me. The ladies pay the check and head home for last minute packing.
8:15 Tuesday morning Bette is home alone at Kit’s and the door bell rings.
Bette: May I help you?
Uniformed Man: Are you Bette Porter?
Bette: I am.
Uniformed Man: Well, I’m Javier, your driver. I am here to take you to LAX. I was told Kit Porter’s bag is here by the door? We will stop by the Planet and pick up Kit on the way to the airport. I am early, but Ms. Porter didn’t want you to leave early and spoil her surprise.
Bette: My sister knows me well. You can take Kit’s bag and I’ll have mine ready in a few moments. Bette smiles and goes to the bedroom to finish packing. They leave about 15 minutes later to pick up Kit.
Kits smiles wide and laughs as Bette comes into the Planet.
Bette: OK, you got me sis, you got me. Leans in and gives Kit a big hug.
Kit: I have friends here in LA too. Here’s your coffee grab, a seat with the girls and I’ll be ready to go in about 10 minutes.
Bette: Good morning Al, Shane
Alice: Hey Bette off to get into some trouble?
Shane: Morning Bette.
Bette: Well it’s already started; Kit sent a limo to the house this morning. We are travelling in style to LAX.
Shane: Cool
Alice: Fun, get that Vegas feel right away. I hope you guys have a blast, Kit deserves a break too. She works so hard here.
Shane: Yea, you both deserve a break.
Bette: Well, Al just so you know, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas so no probing questions when we get back.
Alice: Porter you are no fun, no fun at all.
Kit: Ready baby girl? Later Shane, Alice behave! Bette and Kit exit the Planet and head to the limo.
Alice: Why is she telling me to behave?
Shane: Please Al, do you really need me to spell it out?

I agree, Tina is lost. She keeps saying things like Bette only thinks about herself, but this whole thing started because Tina is thinking about herself. They both have to find what makes them happy. Let’s hope that they discover again that it is each other. Thanks!!
Well you did it again Lwsho…that was awesome. I think that Tina is being very defensive because she doesn’t really know what she wants. She may have feelings for men, but inside she really hasn’t let Bette go and she is stunned that Bette has made this decision. She is feeling hurt that Bette could make the decision to leave her and Angelica and she doesn’t want to be the one that is responsible for pushing her into it, so instead she throws the blame onto Bette. It may not be right, but it happens in real life just like that. Bette isn’t right either…she went to the other extreme. My guess is that she will regret her decision in time of leaving her baby. I can’t wait until your next update!
Tina is a small-minded, selfish beotch.
As ever, great denial = terrific conflict and cliff hanger for your devoted readers.
My stars Sho, you’ve got me hanging from the cliff by my fingernails waiting for the cracks to splinter and drop me to my own peril. Glad that Helena told Tina what was going on and also telling Tina about how she caused Bette’s latest actions. Still Tina could not and did not hear what Helena was telling her and still she blames Bette rather than herself. They have both made a terrible mistake and I have a feeling both will pay dearly for their actions. Really hate to see them break up, they are both still in love with each other. They are destined to be together, I just hope they can find forgiveness and find their way back to each other where they belong. Angie needs them both and needs them to be together. So do we. Great update.
Tina doesn’t want to hear some home truths from even someone as non-invested as Helena. Reality will hit soon enough, both when Tina realises Bette’s *really* gone and isn’t coming back, and for Bette when she starts really missing Angie. One thing is certain, I think those two need some time apart. In the meantime, Viva Las Vegas! Thanks for the post.
Great upadate. It’s so sad to see how far apart both Bette and Tina are. And Tina seems to be suddenly on a selfish mode. Sigh!! I hope you’ll sort this out won’t you :) Thank you again!
Maybe I´m biased, but I somehow like the way this story seems to go. Tina needs to take a long hard look at herself. And if they want to save anything between them, they definitely need time apart. Great post.
This is heartbreaking {sniffling in sadness}. Just catching up on reading and happy to come across your story – very well written. Tell granny to take it easy – you’re capturing the voices of the characters and must use such ‘language’ at time for them to remain authentic…{worried now that your granny will come after me for encouraging the occassional curse word and going to hide now!}
I’m really disliking Tina right now! This whole thing started because Tina was thinking about herself and her needs, so how can she say that Bette is only thinking about herself? I think this whole thing is a defense mechanism for Tina because she doesn’t really know what she wants. In time (hopefully not too long) they will both realize pushing each other away was a mistake and find their way back to each other. Great update, even though I’m not happy with the outcome. I’ll stick with you and your wonderful writing! PPS
I’m gonna blame hormones for Tina’s behavior. I think she needs an a-ha moment and then she needs some therapy and then Bette needs an a-ha moment and some therapy too and then they need to get back together once they resolve the crap going on with themselves.
