A Christmas Waltz – Chapter one of two

    Christmas Eve

They had decided to spend Christmas Eve alone at their home and Tina was beginning to wonder if that had been a good idea.  She was satisfied just sitting on their double-wide easy chair, watching A Walton Christmas on television.

Her plan was for them to drink the hot chocolate and eat the snacks she had made, snuggle together in the chair watching sweet Christmas stories on TV and enjoying the evening.  They had already showered and were dressed in soft, comfortable pajamas. There would be, of course, no snow in Los Angeles, but the night time temperature was down in the 40s so both could pretend it was winter.

That was the plan.  But the reality was that Tina was sitting mostly alone because Bette was as nervous as a cat.  She couldn’t leave the tree alone.  Every few minutes she hopped up to study the tree again.  Then some ornaments were moved, lights were adjusted, icicles were draped more attractively.  Then she sat down tensely for a short while until she jumped up again.

Clearly, Tina thought, her plan was going to have to change.  Bette was going to drive them both crazy and, later, sleeping would be difficult.

So Tina went into the kitchen to get some wine.  Unfortunately, Tina thought, Bette wasn’t a drinker of hard liquor because she could have mixed a drink for her stiff enough to fell an ox…a nervous ox.  She settled on a rather large wine glass and filled it with Bette’s favorite pinot noir.

“Bette,” she called as she approached the large chair.  Bette looked up from the floor, startled, her gift-arranging activity having been interrupted.

“Sit down and share a glass of wine with me,” Tina said fetchingly.

After a last glance at the presents under the tree, Bette came to the chair, sat by Tina, and took a drink of wine.  After another glass Bette had begun to settle somewhat, but not enough.  The TV show was over and it was close to bedtime, but Bette was still restless.

Tina disappeared to the bedroom a few minutes and came out wearing the short, sheer nightie she had worn on their honeymoon.  She walked casually back into the room, sat down next to Bette, picked up her wine glass, and smiled pleasantly at her wife.

    1. Pancha…always enjoy your stories. Love this Christmas B & T. So funny yet cute how childish Bette acts. Tina is just as amusing. Only 2 chapters…hmmm, wishing there was maybe 4. LOL. Thanks for the story…always a pleasure to read one of yours.

    2. Well, pancha, even if you decide to end that last story against my wishes, you have provided me with some hope. I loved your B&T and I think you should actually continue these short segments of them even if the story is not 100 chapters long, just 100 different short stories, but all about the same B&T.

    3. HAHA Nice mention of the Waltons. *thinking back to the honeymoon* If a fir tree is what I’m thinking it is, it is actually way easier to secure ornaments on than a pine. I preferred pine when I was a kid and it was a pain in the ass to decorate. The exchange that happened when Bette brought the tree home reminded me so much of my parents. I could see my mom dragging out boxes of Christmas crap. Well, unless it was still out from the year before. O.o Tina + cello = OMFG. She must have some long fingers for that one… Okay I’ll stop now. Can’t wait for the next chapter!

    4. OH the stress of christmas…But you know itss all worth it in the end!!!this is great a Bette and Tina christmas story…just what we need to destress lol keep it coming love your stories
