A New Found Land – Chapter Five

    Chapter Five

Tina hesitated. We were alone in the classroom and she still hadn’t answered my question. What could i say now, I mean I could hardly repeat myself, she’d think I was like insulting her or something. She shifted her position, God she really did look just as stunning, in her black suit as she did that morning in the tiny black shorts. It felt really surreal actually, that it was the same person standing in front of me. But it was, and I felt kind of special that I had seen so much of her personality and I only knew her for like a day and a bit.

“Oh crap, Bette, she just said something.” Oh, Shit, not again.

“Sorry Miss, what?“ I said turning somewhat red.

She smiled. “I said, so how did you find the poetry Bette? Do you like poetry?”

“Oh right, it was nice, I like Walt Whitman, he’s cool. Yeah, I love poetry, it can be amazing stuff, but I don’t know, I like pretty specific stuff.”

“Uh huh, he’s one of my favourites.” NOTE TO SELF BETTE, ONE OF HER FAVOURITES!! “But uhm, I know he can be difficult for some students to grasp. Do you have any favourite poet or poem”

“Oh, uhm, that’s a difficult one,” we were sitting now, just chatting away lightly. “Uhm, I have one of my favourites here, hold on a second.”

“Oh come on! You’re whipping out the poetry, LAME.” Okay Mr. Mind, if Tina digs it, all the better, if not, she’ll know, that I can be genuine about things. That’s what poetry is, so stuff it, and leave me alone while I’m with her.

“Here we go,” I said pulling out my notebook. After a couple of second sifting through all the doodles I found it. “It’s my favourite poem okay, so no laughing.”

Tina raised her arms all defensively in front of me, that smile still on her face. “Check, I promise not to laugh. Will you read it for me?”

“Uhm, okay.” Crap, now I was nervous. My hand started shaking. My eyes, glanced around frantically. The windows were open, so I had enough air, but somehow, I became rather nervous and breathless, which really shouldn’t have happened, because this absolutely stunner of a woman was sitting in front of me.
