A Single Mom Meets Someone New Ch 104

Bette found Gillian sitting on a bench in one of the smaller galleries with Grace. Bette walked towards them. Grace yielded her seat to Bette.

“I’m sorry.” Gillian said as Bette sat next to her.

“You have nothing to be sorry for.” Bette said.

“Yeah I made a scene again when I promised you I wouldn’t.” Gillian said.

“I don’t care about that. Why wouldn’t you tell me that those pieces were yours?” Bette asked.

    “You know why.” Gillian said.

“What’s going on with you and Mom?” Bette asked.

“I don’t want to talk about it.” Gillian said.

Grace was standing in the doorway keeping a watchful eye out.

“You are so frustrating when you say that.” Bette said.

    “I know.” Gillian said.

“Then why do you do it?” Bette asked. Gillian gave her a look. “Never mind. I know there something going on between you and Tina.”

“You’re right there is.” Gillian said.

“Well what is it?” She asked.

    ********

Tina walked into an office in a building downtown.

“Reed, Kinton, and Stien. How can I help you?” The receptionist said.

“I need to speak with Geri Reed.” Tina said.

“Do you have an appointment?” She asked.

“No, but she’ll see me.” Tina responded.

“Tina? What are you doing here?” The hot blonde from the hotel walked around the corner.

“Geri thank god. I need to talk to you.” Tina said.

“Okay let’s go to my office.” She put her hand on the small of Tina’s back and guided her back to her office. Tina walked in. Geri closed the door behind them.

    “Gillian knows.” Tina said.

“I know.” Geri walked over to her.

“What? How?” Tina sank to the couch.

“After you left today she knocked on the door.” Geri sat next to Tina.

“Oh God. What did she say?” Tina asked.

“She told me to stay away from her family and if she had to ask me again she wouldn’t be so nice about it.” Geri said.

“What are we going to do?” Tina said.

“I think it’s time.” Geri said.

“I don’t know. Gillian will never forgive me and what about the little ones how would I ever explain this to them.” Tina started to cry.

    *********

“Come on Gillian you’ve always been able to tell me anything.” Bette said putting her arm around Gillian.

“I know. I just don’t know how to tell you this.” Gillian stood and walked over to the large window.

“Tell me what? It can’t be that bad.” Bette said.

    “It’s worse.” Gillian said.

“The only way we can deal with it is if you tell me what it is.” Bette leaned back on the bench.

Gillian looked out the window and then looked at Bette trying to find the words.

    “I’m afraid.” Gillian said.

“Don’t be. No matter what I’ll always love you.” Bette said.

“Me too.” Grace said from the door way. Gillian gave Grace a half smile.

“Mom’s cheating on you with a blonde woman. It’s happened twice that I know of.” Tears streamed down Gillian’s face as she spoke.

Bette looked at the floor and then stood. She looked at Grace who nodded at her. She walked over to Gillian and wrapped her arms around her.

“Shhh. It’s okay. Don’t cry. I know.” Bette said.
