    A Slow Dance – Chapter 7

Bette fingered the gold chain around her neck, idly tracing the outline of the three small turquoise stones in the middle. She read over the piece of paper she held in her hands and smiled in approval.

She folded it perfectly and placed it in a crme colored envelope, sealing it with a piece of string looped through two metal lined holes in the back. She signed a name on the front and walked out to her assistant.

"Anita, could you send a courier over here? I need this delivered immediately." Bette handed her the envelope.

Anita studied the detail of the name on the envelope and sighed to herself. "Sure thing, Boss." Anita picked up the phone and dialed the courier office. She looked up at Bette. "Anything else you need while I’m at it?"

Bette shook her head. "No, I need to call Sadler and make sure he has the orders I talked to him about the other day. Oh, that reminds me – " She stopped when she saw Anita bow her head again and focus on the envelope.

She waited until Anita hung up the phone, then began again. "I have a special project I’m undertaking and I need your help finding out a few things."

"The courier should be here in about ten minutes." Anita looked back up at Bette. "Now do tell."

Bette leaned on the desk and smiled slyly. "Well"

Tina was swamped. She was drowning in paperwork just from today’s onslaught, and she was working on three scripts due two weeks apart from one another. She let out a loud cry of frustration when she saw the same mistake she’d been correcting on one script for the twelfth time.

Why was it that some writers could come up with marvelous concepts, but they hardly ever knew how to write them down? This new screenwriter had great ideas, but unfortunately he really wasn’t much of a writer. She decided to put her work down for a few minutes and move on to the massive amount of paperwork loitering on her desk.

"Now what can we do about you?" She asked the paper, silently willing it to go away. If there was one thing this job helped you do, it was perfect your signature. She grabbed the first thing that caught her eye and started scanning it.
