Tina – Great!
She brings a forkful to her mouth and leans her head on Bette’s shoulder.
Tina – I’m so happy that you’re here …
Bette – Me too!
She kisses her girlfriends head.
Tina – Do you think I have any chance of getting David’s house for our next movie?
Bette – Yeah … just time it correctly. He likes to spend a month in Europe around Thanksgiving and another month around Easter. Those would be the right times.
Tina – November would be perfect for us. I’ll get the negotiations moving.
She smiles teasingly.
Tina – Maybe I’ll send my new contract negotiator to his home.
Bette – Umm … I think that you have to negotiate with her first.
Tina chuckles and kisses her.
Tina – I will … tonight!

Tina’s office, afternoon: Tina is alone when Kathy comes in and delivers a stack of papers.
Kathy – Here is the script.
Tina – Oh … OK! What time is the meeting with the writers?
Kathy – At three-thirty.
Tina – Thanks!
She starts reading the script.
Kathy frowns staring at the producer.
Kathy – Tina?
The blonde looks up.
Kathy – You … have lipstick … here.
She points to Tina’s neck. The blonde quickly tries to wipe it with her hand.
Tina – Here?
Kathy – Yes!
The producer chuckles embarrassed.
Tina – Thanks, I … Is it off?
Kathy – Yeah …
She smiles and leaves the room.
Tina rolls her eyes frustrated and mumbles to herself.
Tina – How hard is it to remember to check?
She sighs and looks pensive. She picks up the phone and makes a call.
Tina – Kathy? Could you come over here please?
Her assistant shows up at the door.
Tina – Come in … and close the door.
Kathy closes the door.
Tina – We’ve worked together for a few years now and I would like to tell you something. I guess you won’t be surprised to hear that Bette Porter … is not just a friend to me.
Her assistant nods in acknowledgement.
Tina – I hope you understand that this is private.
Kathy – I understand.
Tina – You will be seeing more of her in the future.
Kathy – OK.
The producer smiles.
Tina – That’s all.
Kathy turns to leave.
Kathy – Tina … if you don’t mind me saying … you have very good taste in men … but excellent taste in women.

Cute…. Alice is still Alice. She still cannot believe that Bette treats Tina differently from any other woman she has dated. Tina has no faults in Bette’s eyes….

dbff, I’m so with you concerning Melvin/Bette. I never could quite understand why she accepted his condescending, arrogant behaviour. Even if you love your parents unconditionally, you can expect them to treat the person you love at least with respect and you should tell your parents to do so.
But as you said, you’re writing a prequel so I’m fearing for the worst when it comes to their visit in Philly on Thanksgiving.
Thank you so much for another cute chapter! Tina’s efforts to open up and include Bette more in her day-to-day life made me smile. She’s really getting confident with being with a woman. Next step: exchange of keys to the other’s home ;-)
