After the Mirror Shatters Ch. 9: Steel Magnolias
Chapter 9
“Where was it that you moved here from?” Carmen asked as you flipped through a rack of clothing. Eve looked up from the other side of the rack.
“Arizona, but I’ve lived all over the place.” She pulled out a sexy red lace shirt and held it up.
“Cute, but maybe a little saucy for you.” Carmen shook her head. ” Were you born in Arizona? I mean where did that accent came from?”
“It came from all over the south. What do you mean the shirt is too saucy for me?” Eve stared at the red shirt that looked more like lingerie than a shirt. Carmen only shrugged.
“You just seem to be super shy and sweet. I thought you might not feel comfortable in that. Unless you want to try it on.” Carmen felt like she was insulting Eve.
“Is it that obvious?” Eve asked putting the red shirt back on the rack.
“Just a little.” Carmen smiled gently and then pulled out a green tank top with black lace overlaying it. . “This would bring out your eyes.”
Eve allowed herself to smile. “I like that. You think it would look good with jeans or something?” Eve looked around.
“Nope, they would go perfect with these tight ass green and black pin stripe pants. Go try them on.” Carmen walked around the rack to the taller girl and wrapped her arm around Eve’s shoulder.
“So, how did you and Zo meet?” Eve asked the other woman as they walked to the fitting rooms.
Dana sat on her couch in silence it was so strange not to be at Alice’s. She was always sleeping or hanging out at the strawberry blonde’s apartment. The tennis player couldn’t stop thinking about how Alice had been acting for some time. She just didn’t say anything to her friends about it.
She sighed and then leaned forward to pick up the mail that had been accumulating on her coffee table. Sorting the different colors and sizes of envelopes, she tossed them one by one on the table when the notebook that Zo had given to her caught her eye. Dana threw all of the mail down and picked the faded, worn and torn notebook.
