Chapter 15- Used To

Alex ran through the front door, drenched in sweat.

Alex: Honey, I’m home!!!

Alice was in the kitchen, making lunch. She leaned over, to peak her head out from behind the wall.

Alice: Hey, how was that run?

Alex: Great!

Alice: bet you’re hungry eh?

Alex: Actually babe, I gotta get a quick bite, I gotta go train.

Alice: You just trained. Wasn’t that what that run was for?

Alice turned back to the stove as Alex walked into the kitchen. It was painted a very deep yellow, with rustic-looking red tiles and awning above the stove. It was also positioned across from the living room, and there were two glass sliding doors at the end of the hallway.

Alex: Yeah, but that was cardio, now I need strength training!

Alice: I’m sure you can take fifteen minutes out of your day to spend with your wife, and eat the lovely meal she prepared you.

Alex: Alice, they’re egg salad sandwiches!

Alice: Are you complainin’ bout my cookin’?

Alex: No, I’m just saying I gotta train.

Alice sighed, knowing she wasn’t gonna win.

Alice: Alright.

She grabbed a sandwich and put it in a plastic bag, then tossed it to Alex.

Alex: Thanks babe!

Alex pocketed the sandwich and gave Alice a quick kiss before running out. Alice smiled and walked over to the fridge, holding up a bottle of water. Within seconds, Alex came running back, and saw Alice holding the bottle. She snagged it.

Alex: Thanks babe, you rock.

This time, Alex gave Alice a nice, soft, lingering kiss.

Alex: I love you. And I promise I’ll be home fore diner, and … dessert?

They both smiled.

Alice: I love you too, have fun!

Alex: I will!

Alex ran out of the house. Alice sighed.

Alice: I feel like I’m dating Dana again.

She looked around awkwardly.

Alice: Are you here? Whenever I get a chill, you turn up.

Dana chuckled and Alice spun around and screamed, she clutched her heart.
