Fate is such a curious thing. One cannot control it, but when something is meant to be, it is meant to be.
While Bette was being prepped for surgery, Leo had been on the internet on his phone for hours, trying to find any trace of Tina Kennard. Unfortunately, there were about 50 Tina Kennards in the United States, about 5 were from California, and another 7 were from New York.
How the hell was Leo supposed to figure out which one was Bette’s Tina? With the physical description, he was able to narrow it down to two in California, and four in New York.
Leo figured he would start with the ones living in his own state before traveling to Los Angeles. However, he would have to check in with his boyfriend first before starting.
The drive to their regular meeting spot didn’t take too long. They always loved to sit at the restaurant they had first met.
“Hey Paul,” he said when he reached their spot.
“Hey babe, I’m on a break now,” he said adjusting his police uniform.
“You work today?” Leo said in surprise.
“Well, we’re searching for a woman who was involved in an accident,” Paul said.
“On the bridge?” Leo said standing up.
Paul’s brow crinkled in confusion as he said, “how did you know that?”
“Oh my God! Paul, I found her! I took her to the hospital in critical condition!” Leo cried.
“What! Are you sure?” Paul said standing up.
“Yes, is her name Bette?” Leo said.
“Bette Porter, yes,” Paul said.
Just then Tasha entered the room and moved to Paul’s side, “Paul, what’s the matter?”
“Tasha! My boyfriend!” Paul pointed at Leo, “he found Bette yesterday and took her to the hospital in critical condition.”
“Oh my God!” Tasha didn’t stop her tears, “she’s alive! I knew it! I have to tell Tina now!”
“Hey, wait,” Leo said, “you’re a friend of hers? Tina is here?”
“Yes,” Tasha said.
“Do you mind if I go with you to tell her?” Leo said, “Bette is in critical condition, and I think there’s some things she needs to know before I take you to the hospital.”
Tasha’s brow furrowed with worry as she said, “of course.”

Yes fate is a funny thing and urgh I feel so bad for Tina…I know you’re a TiBetter so I expect Bette to make it out of the surgery! Great chapter!

Okay, I’m sure you won’t let her die so that’s good. Tina should be with Bette like right now. PPVS (tomorrow)
Bette will survive……..right???????? And as right now…. I love Leo. Now, let’s get the ladies to the hospital. BTW, I am somewhat upset how they are concerned that Bette doesn’t remember them than if Bette is OK. Just sayin’.

This is a very interesting read. Let Tina go to Bette and be her inspiration, I’m a little worried reading that B may not survive the surgery.

Smart girl yes, experience with the justice system, a natural born skeptic, a study of people, and experience with law enforcement for more than 20 yrs, you learn a lot. Can hardly wait to see what you do with this. As a TiBette(r) I just know you will let Bette live and get her memory back so that she can be with Tina and her family again. Great update. Thanks.

It’s really weird, fate. What’s even more weird is that all of them are worried about Bette remembering them than if she’s ok. I know, maybe it’s shock, but that struck me. PPS

Hi Tibetter24, Many thanks for another great and intense chapter. Is was great that Leo was able to connect Bette to Tina and the gang so quickly. I think fate is lending a helping hand after the accident. Or perhaps it is just balancing things out; the ying and the yang. I hope Bette gets throught the surgery and then with Leo, Tina and family’s support learns to walk again. I get the sense that it will be a tough road however with love and care she will succeed. I can’t wait to read more so how you post real soon. One of the most enjpyable aspects of this adventure is the increase in tension. Just when things look brighter there is another setback. This is so true to life. I do adore this style of writing. Much appreciation from Your Loyal Fan.
