Astral Romance // Tibette Goes Moulin Rouge – Ch 5
She gently brings Jodi, who is engaged by the words, to her feet, standing up in front of her. In the mean while, Bette stands up behind her. When Tina finishes singing, Jodi has stars in her eyes. There is a moment of silence, the Duchess is transfixed but still blocking Bette’s exit to the balcony.
“That’s very beautiful,” she finally manages to say.
“It’s from ‘Spectacular Spectacular’,” Tina explains. “Suddenly with you here I finally understood the true meaning of those words: ‘How wonderful life is now you’re in the world.’”
Jodi is inexplicably moved. Tina watches over her shoulder as Bette makes her way to the door and opens it, only to find Amy on the other side.
“What meaning was that, my dear?” Jodi asks.
Bette shuts the door and tries to hide herself in the corner. To distract Jodi, Tina throws herself on the bed, suddenly fighting back tears.
“No! No! Duchess! Don’t you toy with my emotions! You – you must know the effect you have on women.”
The Duchess clearly doesn’t, but looks smug and delighted all the same. Tina pulls her down on top of her. Bette is appalled. She stands, but unable to bear the sight of Tina and Jodi on the bed, doesn’t leave. Tina pushes Jodi’s face into her breasts while motioning for Bette to get out.
“Let’s make love! You want to, don’t you?” Tina asks Jodi.
“Make love?” Jodi queries, struggling for air.
“I knew you felt the same way! Oh! Oh! Duchess!” Tina exclaims joyously.
Pushing Jodi’s face back down, Tina emits a strangled scream at Bette which clearly means ‘Get out or he’ll kill you.’ She motions for her to leave by the front of the elephant. Bette runs across the room, giving Tina a pleading look.
Jodi, thinking Tina’s scream was a cry of passion, groans ecstatically. Tina, seeing Bette won’t budge, suddenly changes her tack. She holds Jodi’s face firmly in both hands.
“Yes, you’re right, we should wait.”
Jodi is mystified. “Wait?”
Bette will still not go. With sudden inspiration, Tina says: “Yes… wait until the opening night.”
Tina looks at Bette, who looks happier and hides behind a screen in the elephant’s head.
“But…” Jodi says, trying to catch up.
