She’d be lying if she said that the moment Bette showed up at Phyllis’s party that she didn’t feel her presence before she saw her.  She looked back at her, knowing that Bette must have been the most beautiful woman in the entire world.  She made her lose her breath upon eye contact and she was helpless against her.

She thought of their last encounter; how Bette looked, felt, and smelled.  She didn’t expect to want her so bad.  It wasn’t because of sex, though she definitely found Bette to be sexy and desirable.  There was something else that made her stop by Bette’s house three hours prior to Angelica’s arrival.  She wanted her back.

There it was.  It was out there now.  She wanted her life back with Bette.  She wanted Angelica to be around Bette all the time, not just half the time.  She wanted to go home to Bette and wake up in the morning with her.

Having sex with her was her way of claiming her; remarking her territory and telling Jodi that this woman belonged to her.

She walked over to her slowly.

“Hey.” Bette’s voice is soft and deep, unmasking her lust.

    “Hey.”

“Wild party, huh?” Bette said, sarcastically.

Tina turned back to the party and at Phyllis in particular.  For an older, distinguished woman, she was quite wild.

“I thought you weren’t doing anything tonight.”

Tina watched as Bette looked away from her for a moment; maybe to think of an appropriate lie.  But when her eyes lifted back up to look at her, she knew only the truth would come out.

    “I wasn’t.”

She looked away again.  Tina smiled, almost smugly, knowing that Bette was here only because she wanted to see Tina.  Her heart pounded at the thought that she was first in Bette’s mind.

But what about that other girl?

    “Where’s Jodi?  Is she here?”

“No, she didn’t want to do a work thing and Phyllis is work for us.”

    “Right.”

She looked her body over once; there was nothing more that she would want than to go home with her.  She only turned so that Bette might chase.  She liked making Bette chase her.  That was her single goal of their first month of dating: to make Bette chase her all around L.A. until she gave her exactly what she wanted.

    1. I think Tina always knew that she was in love with Bette, that Bette was the love of her life, even after Bette’s affair. On that night, Tina acknowledged that feeling, admitted it not to Bette but to herself, to the point that she would accept to be the other woman just to see if she’d had a chance at having Bette back in her life. The character of Tina is a lot more complex than what meets the eye, she changed her life to be with Bette. And by the way, what an amazing acting work Laurel Holloman has done with this character. I’m glad you took on navigating Tina’s world a little and shedding some light on this incredible woman. Thank you for posting.
