Chapter 33
Dana tossed and turned for hours on her London hotel bed, but it was useless. No matter want position she tried she couldn’t get comfortable.
She was half way in to her European tour on the armature circuit, and as much as she tried to deny it, she was terribly home sick. She knew some of the other players and had made a few friends but they weren’t her teammates or Harrison, they were competition.
Her trainer and coach were traveling with her, but they weren’t her family. The plan had been for the Fairbanks clan to reunite in London, but with the travel restrictions place on her father due to his heart attack quickly changed those plans.
People that she met, tennis fans, potential sponsors and the like, were nice enough and the attention she had been garnering with every win was exciting but sitting at night in her hotel room she missed Mr. Piddles. And her girls. And one girl in particular.
With a loud sigh, Dana pushed herself into a sitting position leaning against the headboard of her bed. Turning on the bedside lamp, she noted that it was just after 2am and began counting backwards to figure of the time back home.
Giving it a few more moments of thought, Dana reached for her note pad were she wrote down the instructions for international calls and began dialing. Charges be damned, she wanted to talk to Alice.
After the first attempt at dialing lead to a horribly loud beeping noise, Dana was relieved when she finally heard the first ring.
