Bed of Lies – Chapter 7

“Uh… I need to develop a few rolls of film… I can set you up outside with my prints if you like? I’ll only be about 15 minutes.”

“Can I stay and watch? Is that ok?”

“It’s fine… except there’s nothing to watch, developing film isn’t like developing photos, film is more sensitive to light so even safe lights will damage them, they need to be reeled in complete darkness.”

“You can do that in complete darkness?”

“It’s not as difficult as it seems, I first learned to do it in photography class when I was 14… wanna learn?” Bette asked with a glint in her eye.

“Sure” Tina was up to the challenge.

Bette grabbed a roll of empty film from a box, a black container with a screw on lid, scissors, something that looked like a large empty spool and something that looked like a can opener.

“Ok, let me show you in the light first, and then I’ll guide you through it with the real things later.” Bette gathered her tools and demonstrated, checking with Tina every step of the way.

“Once it’s in the tank and the lid is on, it’s safe for the lights to come back on. Then we pour in the chemicals for it to develop. So you think you got it huh?”

“Well, no, but with reminders, I think I could give it a go.”

“Ok, let me set up then get the lights.” Bette carefully placed the items she needed on the bench, pulling out the rolls of film from her pocket and positioning them on the bench too, she double checked the position of each item before turning to Tina.

“Don’t move” she winked as she went to close the curtain and switch off the lights. The room was now pitch black.

Seconds later, Tina felt Bette’s body behind her.

“Hi” she smiled as she felt Bette’s hands on her hips.

“Hi” Bette breathed her response quietly onto Tina’s neck, sending shivers up the blonde’s spine.

“So, show me what to do”

Bette let her hands linger on Tina’s waist; slipping them under Tina’s jacket, she pulled the garment off the blonde’s shoulders.

    “Might be easier without this”

Tina did not protest, removing the jacket quickly so she could move back to leaning into Bette’s body. Bette rested her chin on Tina’s shoulder, taking the blonde’s hands into her own.

    1. Just love the story. It’s so good and wonderfully written….one can just feel the intensity between them and the anticipation is killing me. Thanks and pps.

    2. Well TP…that was some writing!!! I could feel every word of that. I wish you had another chapter ready to post tonight, I’m dying to know what happens when the lights go on!

    3. Hummmm, I wonder if Tina is finally expressing her sorrow over Melvin’s death to Bette, or is she saying sorry because she can’t kiss her right now????Good chapter. Good cliff hanger. pps

    4. come on someone got to do the first step!! i cant wait to see a little love or a list bette falling ard on tina, bette is cute when shes in love. and tina need to decide and soon

    5. tina has some explaining for her “sorry”… it seems she wants to hang with the gang more and more… wonder how long before starts to feel left out?? doubt he will notice? :)PPS

    6. I was not even aware of breathing while reading this last part until my lungs started screaming at me! That was gorgeous writing! Thank you!!

    7. Lordy, Lordy, sweet Lord. What a sight! “She knew Bette had a motorbike, had seen it parked in her driveway, had seen her carry her helmet… but she had never seen her on it. She was wearing her usual: tight jeans, boots, tight black tank top, worn leather jacket. And she was straddling a bike. ” I can just picture JB in this scene. What a way to make an entrance. It would be just perfect. Although, the darkroom scene wasn’t too shabby either. ;-) Tina’s got to be prepared to play w/the big girls now. PPS.

    8. I don’t think Tina is sorry in regards to Eric or Melvin, I think she’s sorry that at this moment as much as she’d like to, the kiss is not going to happen. Though if that was me, after all that in the dark room with Bette, I don’t know that I could stop. Damn that was good. Looking forward to the next update.

    9. Well, well, isn’t it a new kind of forplay here, pressing “bodies, arms and fingers” together in the pretty intimate and cut-off-from-the-outside-world dark room ! I simply love it (… and totally share Tina’s emotions and breath’s trouble ! *sighs*) The same way I adore the way that my beloved two develop both a film and a relationship, right ? (*wink & grin*) Sensitive and sweet, realistic, full of sparks and growing emotional – and physical – tension : that’s what I call an endearing story – a fovorite of mine from the very beginning. Thank you so much for sharing, TP, it’s a true pleasure to be your reader – your faithful and delighted reader. More, please ! (*puppy eyes added to my best smile !* ) ^_^ – A.

    10. I am really enjoying your story, it does seem a bit more based in reality than the show. I especially like how you are building and showing the connection between Bette and Tina whilst everyone else is oblivious. However, I believe you having taken the course..How To Get lurkers Out of The Shadows By Adding Mean and Spiteful Cliffies….and you must have gotten an A, ’cause it worked on me. Please up date soon.

    11. I think Tina’s sorry because she won’t be able to go farther than their first kiss – at least not until she clears things up with Eric. How could Tina resist kissing Bette? Those beautiful lips, the warmth of her breath, the darkness of the room…Ohhhhh – no one could resist all of that and be human! This is sooo darn good TBP. You’re killing me with these cliffhangers though… couldn’t they have kissed at least one time before Tina became remorseful??? More – Soon — PLEASE.
