Bed of Lies – Chapter 9

    Chapter 9

    Monday morning.

Bette dressed and walked over to Shane’s; if it worked with their schedules, they tried to go into the Planet together and she wanted to see if Shane had time and wanted to hang out during the day. She used her spare key and entered via the side door, walking into the kitchen and pouring herself a coffee before joining Shane at the table.

"Morning, wanna ride? I was thinking about heading to the coast after breakfast to do some shooting if you were interested?"

"Sure, we haven’t done that in ages, that sound perfect actually. The movie finally wrapped, so I’m off for the next 3 days at least."

Bette turned at the sound of a door opening and closing, raising her eyebrow at Shane, who just laughed in response and walked down the hall to the bathroom.

"I’ll be out in sec" she called out as she closed the door behind her.

Bette smiled as she heard footsteps down the hallway; her face froze when the source of the footsteps appeared in the kitchen.

    "Bette…?"

Bette’s thoughts raced. What was she doing here? Her mind filled with competing sounds and started to drag her through a series of scenes. That first family night: she could smell the orchids in the air as she handed Tina her wine, she remembered the feel of her hands… The night at Milk: she couldn’t remember the music but she could remember every beat of that dance, the feel of Tina’s hips under her hands, the feel of Tina’s hands around her neck, she went home with the scent of Tina’s hair floating through her body… In the kitchen last week: being so close to that long slender neck, the feel of Tina’s body leaning into hers… In the darkroom: the heat of their bodies, having Tina’s legs wrapper around her waist, the feel of Tina’s fingers in her hair, her breath on her face… She hadn’t imagined any of that had she? Tina had leant into all of her embraces, responded to all her touches, sure she always pulled back, always walked away from her. But Bette understood. And they talked about it somewhat on Friday… But now… here? Shane?

"Bette, it’s not what you think." Tina’s voice eased gently through the haze of memories and thoughts.

    1. Love it. Happy that Tina is right next door now. I’m sure they will be having midnight swims as well as a few other things going on and being next door is so very easily accessible for them. Happy they had their moment at the SheBar. Yay, go Tina and Bette. Can hardly wait to see what happens next. Post when you can.
