Before I fall in love (7.6/10) – a Bette and Helena story
This could make great fan-fiction. Bette thought. Throw in amnesia and it may even be award winning.
“But I love amnesia storylines!” She whined to herself. “Especially if they’re well-written, like those from Speedy. Who would I remember first if I lost my memory?”
A tall brunette with intense turquoise eyes floated instantly into her mind.
“Damn,” Spotting the exit she missed, Bette grumbled under her breath “I got to turn back now. “To get distracted at this vital moment. Brilliant.”
Immediately, she made an illegal U-turn back into the city. Driving around aimlessly for the next half an hour, she felt frustrated that she was unable to come up with another way to help Helena. Eventually, she managed to get a hold over her emotions. Taking a deep breath, she went with the next logical choice – to solve the problem from the heart of it.
“Winnie”
“Do you know what time it is? It’s nearly midnight!” Winnie was furious.
“Yeah, call me crazy. Do you think I could just let out with you being mad at Helena?”
She demanded. “What do you want?”
“Let’s talk. Are you going to let me in?”
Winnie rolled her eyes. “Well, suit yourself. At least I won’t be the unreasonable one in the relationship.” She opened the door, allowing Bette into the house. “The kids are sleeping, so hush!” She chided.
Bette said calmly. “Why are you so hostile towards Helena? You know why I decided to come to you, instead of going straight to her? I can sense some strong undercurrent beyond the surface, and I want to find out why.”
“Right. You two really suit each other, you not even content with controlling her, and you want to manipulate me as well.” Winnie hissed.
Bette glared at Winnie. “You were too deeply in love with Helena when she broke up with you, and you didn’t quite forgive her for that.” She accused.
“No, it’s not like that. I didn’t love her anymore when she cheated on me.” Winnie said as she cringed. “On our therapist. And numerous young, nubile women on the side, for that matter.”
