I jump out of bed and rush to the car. Driving to Alices apartment I find that Im in the best mood Ive been in for weeks. Each block I drive I gain more confidenceIm getting Tina back tonight. I pull into Alices parking lot and see Tinas car. She IS there. I dont see Alices car thoughshes probably out partyingit IS Saturday night after all. I park in the space next to Tinas car and walk into the building. I stroll down the hall and reach Alices door. Closing my eyes, I take a deep breath and let it out then I knock. I dont here any movement. I knock again, this time a little louderstill no answer. After sitting in my car outside Alices apartment for an hour, I decide to go home. Ill call later to make sure theyre here before I come back. The drive home seems to take longer than the ride to Alices. I feel like Tina is so close to coming homeyet, still so far away.
