Tina said “Bette this is your body and you have to decide if you want to do this. I can’t tell you that. I don’t feel right about it. I am just as shocked and confused as you. I feel protective of you. I am so angry that you have been violated. This was not your choice, this was not our choice. I am thinking of your health and you have a long road to recovery in front of you that will be very complicated by pregnancy. Yet, if you choose to go through with the pregnancy, I will fully support you. There are so many questions left unsaid. We don’t even know who the male donor is. I am worried about whether they are clean and that your health is compromised”.
Bette said “A male donor? A father? Shit I had not even thought of that. Oh my gosh that adds a whole other dimension. Who is this person? Does he know? Is he going to try to be a part of this? This is so fucking complicated.”
Tina said “You said it”.
Bette said “So what do we do now?”
Tina said “Good question. I honestly don’t know…”
Bette said “What would you say if I wanted to keep this baby? And what would you say if I didn’t?”
Tina said “If you wanted to keep this baby, I would say it is going to be difficult, but we will navigate the terrain together. I would say, let’s get you tested for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases and let’s try to contact Jodie to find out who the donor is. And then I would say let’s contact Joyce Wishnia and find out what our rights are and what we can expect. And then let’s tell Kit. And then let’s talk to your doctors about what happens with treatment for your recovery given this. And if you don’t want to go through with this and you want to terminate the pregnancy, I would say let’s do it soon, like as soon as we can, so it will have the least impact on your body as possible and let’s get through it together and then get you out of the hospital and return to the business of your recovery and let’s keep this between you and I”.
Bette said “Wow, Tee”.
Tina said “Bette most of all I would say this is your choice and your body and I am your partner and will continue to be no matter what decision you make. This is surprising and devastating, but it doesn’t have to be a terrible thing in our lives. I will help you work through whatever you need to and I will be by your side no matter what. I won’t judge you. And I don’t want persuade you one way or the other”.
Bette said “I just need to know Tina, what do you want to do? What do you want me to do?”

Wow this is a tough one. What if Jodi implanted her own fertilized egg into Bette? Then it is Jodi’s biological child and she will always have a tie to them. Too many scary questions. But then again, it doesn’t seem in their nature to terminate the pregnancy. This child will need love and they can provide that for him/her. Good Luck. Either way I’m sure you will do a great job.

So gald that you are back with this story. As far as the direction to take with this story, I feel that if it does not complicate Bette recovery, and there are no health threats to her or the baby, then I believe the two of them should keep the baby, after all it is innocent, ans has done no wrong. The child does not need to know the details of it conception later in life, just to know that it is loved and wanted. Angie could use a baby brother. My two cents worth.
I think if she keeps the baby, Tina will have a rough time getting over the circumstances of how it was conceived. However, Bette and Tina have a lot of love to give and there’s nothing they can’t overcome. I think there’s more to this story if you make the decision for them to keep it. Thanks for posting again!
wow… i also agree if it does not complicate bette’s recovery… but they have to talk to the doctors… what drugs was bette on and what effect if any would they have on the baby… i know deep down if bette has this baby… they both will love him or her, jody should have no say in this in fact she should be put in jail for rape… thats how they can get her out of there life… she leaves and no one knows any thing… she stays and makes noise… she goes to jail… thanks for coming back with this story… either way you write it… we will read and love it…pps
There are too many uncertainties to this pregnancy. Before they have gathered sufficient information about the donor and his medical history it will be too late to terminate the pregnancy. There is no doubt that with time B&T will love that child. The minute Bette gives birth nothing but this tiny infant will matter. It will look like her, not Jodie – but I would say it all comes down to the donor. Find out who he is and then make the decision.
I know this may go against what most are thinking and saying but I do not think going through with this pregnancy is the best idea. Anyone who would violate another being in this was is just evil and the fact that this person has done something so vile means they would stop at nothing to destroy B & T. It is possible to end this pregnancy by just losing the baby and taking the option of making a choice away. Haven’t they gone through enough without have this horrible person and event hanging over them. You asked so I am just giving my thought.
I too am with the minority, which seems to becoming a majority…I think a miscarriage would be quite reasonable considering all the meds Bette has been given. She doesn’t need the added burden of an unwanted pregnancy. The fact that she wanted a copy of the video shows she is really wanting to have a baby, but it would be better at some later date. I love this story, and the way Tina is giving her such moral support. Great writing.
Don’t have the baby! Tina is saying all the right things but remember how angry she got after catching Jodi violating Bette. Do you really think she won’t look at that child as a daily reminder of how Jodi had her way w/ Bette one last time? They are already dealing with so much in trying to get their relationship back on track & I think adding an “unplanned” child would break the camels back.
Count me in with the minority. Bette really should terminate this pregnancy. Even if they contact Jodi about the sperm who’s to say she is going to give them the information, she could tell them whatever she wants, and I do not trust Jodi in this story at all. In addition even if everything goes well with the pregnancy and the childbirth, what are they going to tell him/her about the donor, it would be really hard on the child as well finding out how her/him was conceived. I know its going to be a hard decision to make, but I still think abortion would be the best way to go under those circumstances. When Bette has fully recovered they can start discussing if they want a second child and everything else involved, but right now it would be wrong to go through with the pregnancy, for all the reasons mention in previous comments. Thanks a lot for coming back and continuing with the story.
I was at first thinking in the land of FF maybe Jodi got a hold of Marcus Allen’s sperm, but then the other posts for abortion was compelling. I’d love to see Bette and Tina have another baby though..but maybe not this way.
Decisions, decisions, decisions. Bette has basically answered her own question and so has Tina. They both agree that they shouldn’t keep this child. And I gave my opinion earlier and I shall give it again. I agree wholeheartedly with mette hartman, ballent and BatnAA_2009, Bette should have an abortion or whatever is medically feasible at this point. She might be too far along if they wait for info on the sperm. Knowing jodi she would do anything to compromise Bette in any way and if that meant giving her a lethal dose of some damned disease through sperm I don’t think she would bat an eye about doing it. The girl is evil, pure and simple. As we have established earlier in the story that this is simply rape at its worst. It was planned rape and was not consensual sex between partners, or ex-partners. jodi did this with malcontent and intended to hurt Bette in any way she could, since she could not have her. Abortion is the only way to go with this. You asked, and that is my opinion. I don’t think either of them will ever be okay with keeping this child for any reason at all. And if jodi fertilized her own egg and implanted Bette with it, oh my God, as someone just before me said, “they would be rearing the devil’s spawn.” It’s just not right and never will be. jodi is hanging back because she expects them to contact her for info and then what is her next trick. But since this is your story we will read no matter what you write. ABORTION. Thanks for continuing to write about such a difficult subject matter. Thanks for posting.

I am going against the majority as well. The decision can be taken out of their hands with a miscarriage, if abortion is too harsh but I say she does not keep this baby. Bette’s mental and physical health will likely not withstand a pregnancy regardless. What if Bette should decide to take this baby to term and then die in childbirth. Is it worth the risk? I say Bette takes priority in this situation. It’s not only a woman’s choice to abort it’s also her choice to conceive. This was a rape and it’s unplanned and unwanted. Nothing conceived by Jodi Lerner can be good. They could be raising the devil’s spawn if they decide to keep it.
While there could be a positive out of all this, everything about the circumstances of the pregnancy feels wrong… it’d be a lot to live with, even if the “donor” did turn out to be disease-free, among other things. Jodi’s tried to remove all elements of choice in the matter, but at the end of the day, she hasn’t. It’s all up to Bette and Tina, and it’s possibly too much to cope with. What if the sperm was from some relative of Jodi’s, and she tries to use some familial claim to tie their lives up with lawyers? What kind of person was the “donor”? *Who* is the donor. They could take the time to try to find all this out -which would likely mean seeing through the pregnancy – and try to use the info to press charges, (although it would be Bette’s word against Jodi’s, and I don’t think for a second that she wouldn’t lie until it seemed it was a mutual idea and Tina’s some sort of baby-stealing homewrecker), or they could choose to terminate and finally begin excising Jodi from their lives. I know which seems like the easier choice. Thanks for the chapter, I hope you continue soon.
