Bike Ride, Life Ride – Chapter 41

The girls gathered up their belongings and hospital paperwork and left the hospital to head to the hotel.  The discharge instructions said for Bette to see and OB/GYN in two weeks to follow up and listed referrals in the area.  The hospital pharmacy supplied Bette with prenatal vitamins and new pain medication that was pregnancy friendly.

The walk out of the hospital and over to the hotel was quiet.  Neither Bette or Tina said anything to one another.  There were a million thoughts going through both their heads, but neither were voicing them.  Bette was having a hard time giving Tina the mental space she needed to wrap her head around the situation at hand.  Bette was scared and inwardly questioning her decision to keep the baby once it became real to her.  Bette was wavering, but didn’t feel like she could tell Tina, because she felt like the back and forth was emotionally unfair. Bette felt scared and alone.  Tina was trying to strategically plan out the logistics of the impact of the pregnancy on the recovery plan.  She was trying not to think emotionally about any of it.

Tina let her and Bette into the lobby of the hotel and up the elevator to their suite and finally inside their “home away from home”.  She wheeled Bette in and dropped the room key on the coffee table.

Tina said “Bette do you want me to help you get comfortable on the couch? I really need to take a shower and get clean”.

Bette said “Sure. That would be great”.

Tina helped Bette get from the wheelchair to the sofa and eased her on.  She helped Bette prop up her leg that was healing and put a blanket over her.

Tina said “Do you want me to turn on the TV for you or music?”

Bette said “I will just wait here and rest my eyes while you shower and then we can maybe watch something together when you are done”.

Tina nodded and then padded off toward the bedroom.  Tina went into the bathroom and once alone, she cried softly for the situation she found herself in.  She knew that eventually the pregnancy would be a blessing and meant that she and Bette would raise another child together in their family.  She was really sad about the circumstances that led them to this place.  And she mourned the loss of having Bette to herself.  She knew how demanding a pregnancy was going to be to Bette’s body and mind.  She undressed and took a long, hot shower and tried to let the beads of water from the shower wash her worries and anxieties away.  When finished, she dried herself off, put on some comfortable lounging clothes and sat down on the bed.  She knew she should go and check on Bette, but she wasn’t ready to do it yet.  She laid back on the bed for a moment to sort out her thoughts and quickly drifted off to sleep.

    1. Jeez, Tina, how much more time are you going to need. Jodi CAN never proud that child is biologically hers. Get your shit together, Bette needs you.

    2. I think Bette is feeling unsure about the pregnancy because she knows she did not think about the situations that could arise long enough and now she is not sure she wants to keep the fetus. My contention all along has been to have an abortion. If Bette is not to have this baby, nature will take its course without them having to make a decision about an abortion. You, as the author wanted to know what we think about this chapter; well, my opinion has not changed and will not change, I just don’t think Bette should have kept this pregnancy. And like Querida, I don’t know tht I could ge as generous as Tina because of all the things that could happen with jodi in the future, because I don’t think she will leave them alone. The woman is evil personified and God only knows where and how she got the sperm and I know it wasn’t done out of love and unselfishness and just wanting to have a baby with Bette. Because she knows that she can never have Bette again, so who knows what the hell she has done. I’ve said all this before and this is the last time I will say it. The mere fact that Bette is having questions now is proof that she knows there could be problems in the future and she is just not sure anymore. Thanks for posting.

    3. Knowing how all of this came about, Tina is being very honest, yet loving and very supportive with Bette and the pregancy. Get them back home to Angie and the girls soon, they need the network of support now.

    4. SECOND COMMENT-after reading the other comments and remebering the story more, I still believe B&T are not the kind of people to have an abortion, but now that they have made their decision, the author needs to make one, and I now agree with most of the other, Bette seems to be very sick, because this would seem to early for all this morning sickness to occur. So, albeit let nature take it course and sad to say, the girls will have to deal with the lost of another child, because as reminded, who the heck knows where Jodi got that sperm.

    5. I just finished reading the posts. It is really an amazing story and I even took a pause on what I am writing right now. lolI think there are a lot of information to process and Tina is such a wonderful person being there for Bette all the way especially now that Bette is pregnant. She could have chosen to leave her, right? You have such a wonderful imagination.. Good job! and please continue posting.. lol

    6. Wow! Finally able to catch up! :-) well, you write such an interesting story about B&T, and honestly since reading from the previous chapters when they haven’t decided anything I already wished and hoped that they will not keep the baby! I agree with what Dainty and the others mentioned. Plus…. psychologically the current state Bette in your story is so emotionally unstable, how she was so scared to be alone even before Jodi incident happened! And how unbelievable weepy she is! Frankly there were so many times I expect Tina to kicked some logic to Bette and put her feet back on the ground!! And then as the story developed into more details about physical complexities of all kind of drugs and medicines which are not suitable for pregnant woman and how Bette’s body still recovering, I can say that keeping the fetus is absolutely a wrong thing! Oh! One more thing, which is HUGE!! since Jodi is so obviously EVIL by planning and doing this to Bette, I don’t believe that the donor has no issue as well!! I just hope and wish that the donor has no health issue which might infected Bette! :-( phew.. Pardon my vent out! :-) lol i think this might be one of the longest comment I ever write! :-p I hope you’ll find more time to continue the story and able to share again! :-) … Thanks for posting and read mine/your reader opinion :-) looking forward to read your next posting! :-)

    7. I have to say I agree with Dainty. This pregnancy feels wrong on so many levels. To B&T Jodi will be emotionally linked to this baby forever and the fact that Bette is questioning her decision clearly shows that she´s aware of the turmoil that could lie ahead not to mention the fact that she doesn´t really seem happy – none of them does. They keep thinking they will come to terms with everything, somewhere down the line, they will be happy, they will grow to love the baby – to me this feels wrong. So I´d like to imagine that this will end in a spontanous abortion. Thanks for posting.

    8. Tina is a little over-reacting but I understand why. It must be hard to know your wife is pregnant and you weren’t the one who ‘made’ it. You didn’t choose. But on the other hand Bette didn’t choose for it either. I just hope tha child will be healthy whenit’s born and I hope it’s a boy just to let everyone know… :D PPS.

    9. I am sorry but the embryo should have been terminated. It’s an embryo not a baby. It can’t survive on its own even w/extraordinary medical means. What about all those drugs and sedatives she took for weeks before and during the inception of the pregnancy. If I were Tina I would always feel that it could have been an implanted embryo of Jodi’s egg and maybe Tom’s sperm or some unknown donor. A baby is forever. If it doesn’t turn out right it is difficult enough to care for it even it was planned but through rape? No way, IMHO. Bette was violated. It wasn’t her choice to get pregnant. While I value life, humans tend to idolize the embryo but often have no compunctions about murdering adults or children during wartime or during ordinary times like during a robbery or an argument. After their lives return to normality, it will be time enough to decide pregnancy or adoption. There are lots of babies looking to be adopted particularly babies of color.
