Trying to get Back to You

Chapter Eleven


Valentines Day was not far off, and Bette could not look forward to it. For the first time in seven years she would not have her valentine, she would not have Tina.

Though months had gone by, and they were no longer together, they remained friends. Still it was a strange friendship, but Bette wanted to take whatever Tina gave her, and that was all Tina could offer.

Because, Tina though not in a serious or exclusive relationship, she was just talking with an Amy Trevino.

Shane, Dana, and Alice, though not all in agreement, respected her decision with this friendship and the one she maintained with Bette. They were glad she kept Bette in her life, but they knew that Amy could never compare. But they thought that if that was what Tina thought she wanted then they too, would learn to want this as well.


Tina new the day was coming and she could tell that her friends had been trying to get used to her without Bette. But deep in her heart, she didnt want them too, she too didnt want to get used to being without her. But she chose to continue with Amy, because in all honesty she didnt know why. It wasnt easy to run back to Bette no matter how much she wanted too. Being with Amy wasnt the right answer, but it was just one for the moment.

Bette seemed to be doing okay. From the few awkward conversations with too much politeness in them, she had begun to see a new Bette coming from within the old one. Tina was happy Bette was doing ok, but she secretly hurt so much that Bette was moving on just fine, when she herself wanted to go back to Bette. But it seemed as if Bette was losing the will to even try anymore on getting back to Tina. She knew Bette had been doing other things to fill her time and the love she had for photography was making a way back into her life.

These last few weeks she had gotten less calls from Bette and their conversations, were becoming comfortable something she did not know if it was a good thing. She didnt know how to go from there, with them actually being okay with each other for now.

One day at the Planet.

You guys do you think Amy and I are moving to fast?

Alice, Dana, and Shane, just all looked at each other and waited for Alice to answer.

T, do you think you are moving to fast?

I dont know, its just that do you think that she has lost the hope for us?

How could she ask that of herself, when she was the one seeing someone else?

I mean, she even took off her ring guys.

Tina, the time you asked for, Bette gave it to you. You asked her to be happy for you shes doing that for you, what is the big deal. Besides, you chunked your ring first right.

Not knowing herself, she excused herself so they wouldnt have to see her cry once again.

How did this get so twisted you guys.

I dont know how it did, but I now how we can get it to untwist.

Alice started to laugh that almost evil laugh and all Shane could do was say, oh ***** and oh ***** was right.

Okay guys Im off to start the plan.

Shane was almost afraid to ask what the plan was.

Al what are you going to do now.

Im going to talk to Bette.

Thats the big plan Al.

Alice walking away said to her friend,

Thats the start of it, and then the rest will come to me.

Shane and Dana just looked at each other, collected their things, and went to tell Tina they had to rush off. If Alice had a plan that meant that they were needed to help things not get out of control.

The girls were unable to answer their friends question, while new ones were running through their minds.

They all thought Tina was finally moving on, even though not in the right direction, but she was moving ahead. That it was her, the one letting go and making it clear to Bette that maybe there was no them, when in reality is was Bette the one getting on and moving on without Tina.

So with her friends now gone and the love of her life getting on with her life, she had nothing to do but to return to her house, because it had been only her house since she left. She hadnt been able to make it a home no matter how much she put into it.


So what are you going to do? You just need to tell her fast, because I dont know how much longer Alice can keep her mouth shut.

She noticed your ring is no longer on your finger. Bette looked down at her finger.

I didnt take it off till she told me about her.

So if you took it off, what is that band you have on?

Its a promise ring that I bought myself. To remind me of the promises that I have made to myself and to go through with those before making promises to others.

Oh, was all Alice could reply because of her shock at what Bette had just finished telling her.

So where does that leave you with Tina?

I dont know, but you guys its getting late and I need to think so if you dont mind leaving. If you see her dont say a thing ok, I want to be the one to tell her ok.

With that Bette thanked them and they were off.
