    Bette, Tina and Alex stood at the security gate at Newark International Airport.

    Alex: I hate these things.

    He pointed to the metal detector at the end of the line.

    Tina: What? Why?

    Alex: I dont know. They just make me nervous.

    Bette smirked.

    Bette: You know you really should seek therapy!

    Alex: I tried but after 3 sessions my therapist wouldnt call me back.

    Tina buried her head in Bettes shoulder hoping to conceal her laughter.

    Alex: What? Its a true story and it isnt funny. The last thing my therapist said to me was that I had issues with abandonment and neglect and then she never called me back!

    Bette: Sounds traumatic.

    Alex: You have no idea!

    Tina dropped Bettes hand when it was her turn to walk through the metal detector. She passed through with no problem, Bette followed right behind her. Alex took a deep breath and walked confidently toward his friends on the other side. He jumped when the alarm went off.

    Alex: See? Now you see?

    Bette quickly placed a hand over Tinas giggling mouth.

    Guard: Sir could you please stand with your arms out?

    Alex rolled his eyes and did as he was told.

    Tina: You know, Alex, from in this light at this angle you kinda look like Jesus.

    Alex couldnt help but laugh at his friends attempt to make him smile.

    Alex: What do you think Bette? Jesus?

    Bette: I dont know tilt your head some more.

    The three laughed hysterically that their tasteless joke.

    The security guard ran her magic wand over Alexs body quickly. She obviously wanted Alex out of there as much as he did.

    Guard: You can take your things.

    Alex grabbed his keys from the plastic dish and hurried toward Bette and Tina.

    Alex: Can we get the ***** out of here already?

    Bette took Alexs hand and gave him her best mommy voice.

    Bette: Now calm down honey. Its almost over. Well be on the plane before you know it.

    Tina: Hey I want you to hold my hand too.

    Bette reached her other hand out and took Tinas. Alex was obviously jealous that all attention wasnt on him and he proceeded to stick his tongue out at Tina.

      Am still rolling about laughing after reading this hysterical chapter. Will spend the rest of the day with a goofy grin and little chortle to myself at the images you created. Recalling the scene with Bette and Tina cramped into the tiny toilet, trying to get it on and only managing to get hurt will keep me amused.
      Thanks for the change of pace. After all the drama a little light relief is most welcome.
      Can’t wait to see what adventures they all have in Chicago. And that includes Alex.
