Deception Inside
Part Four
Jenny came out of the shower, feeling refreshed and clean. She faced Tim, as his back was to her, talking on the phone. Jenny overheard Tim telling someone that he needed more time to think about it.
As Jenny leaned against the door, waiting for Tim to finish. She mulled over, wondering what Tim is up to. Tim hung up the phone, turned away from the phone, looking serious.
“What is going on?” Tim jumped, not expecting Jenny to be there.
“Nothing important.” Tim turned away, not wanting to tell Jenny the truth. Jenny came up to him, laying her hand on his shoulder. Tim turned, meeting her eyes. Tim ran his hand through his hair, recognizing Jenny knew something is going on and wouldnt give up on getting what she want to know.
“Jenny. You better sit down. I have some news that you wont like to hear.” Jenny sat down on the couch, not liking Tims tone of his voice. Tim paced back and forth, trying to find a way to break the news gently.
“I have a chance to train under the coach who helped the swimmers to have a chance to swim in national and world championships. Plus the coach found me a job at the university, allowing me to have the flexibility in my schedule to train,” Tim looked out in the window as he continued, “Jenny. This job is in Washington D.C. I havent decided yet, but this opportunity is too great and I dont want to miss it.”
“Tim. You shouldnt hesitate about taking it. I dont get why youre still thinking about it,” Jenny admonished him.
“That means Im leaving you behind. Who can take care of you and you will be all alone with no friends and family,” Tim responded worriedly. Tears filled her eyes, feeling touched by Tims concern and loyalty, making Jenny love Tim more of who he is and always taking care of her, no matter what happened between them.
“Just go, Tim. No regrets and no doubts. You deserve this and an opportunity to chase your dreams. And to be happy.” Stepping closer to Tim as he opened his arms, enveloping her in a tender embrace. Saddened at the prospect of moving on, not being able to see each other that often, but its time for them to grow apart and finding their places in their lives.

Thrilled with how well the interview went, confident that she will get the job as she continued walking down the hallway, she saw people standing by their offices, talking to their assistants and coworkers. Lost in her thoughts, she crashed into someone, causing her to lose her balance, as the file folders fell out of her arms. Tina reached out to steady her.
“Im so sorry. I didnt see you,” embarrassed Tina knelt down, helping her to gather all scattered papers. The woman made a face, annoyed with her, as she tried to push her helping hand away. Seeing the woman didnt want her help, Tina backed off, not wanting to add more distress.
Tina wanting to get out of here as eyes stared at her from every direction, as she heard the voice calling out, “Watch where youre going next time.” Tina felt the deep blush rising, as she stumbled slightly. Not believing she made a horrible impression.
Entering the elevator, closing her eyes in frustration as the doors began to close. Opening her eyes as she heard her name. Seeing the guy who interviewed her running up, calling out to wait. Tina sighed, do this day can get any worse, as she pushed the button open to hold the door open.
“Thank you, Ms. Kennard.” Gratefully, the man mopped his bald head with a handkerchief as he gathered his breath.
Waiting anxiously, hoping he didnt change his mind. She really needs this job, wanting to have some security and support herself. Tina held her breath, waiting for the answers.
“You got the job. We want you to start tomorrow. We already assigned an assistant for you and help you to get started and your workload. We need you to come in early and get your identification tag, meeting your assistant, and the vice president Mr. Finn want to have a meeting with the staff later in the afternoon.” He pushed the button to return the floor where he was working, as he continued, “Congratulations, Ms. Kennard.” He smiled as he stepped out of the elevator, as the doors closed, Tina jumped gleefully and pumped her fists in the air. Leaning back, Tina felt ready to work and hardly wait to get started on it.
Without thinking, she called Bette on her cell phone to give some good news. Hearing Bette on the line, “Hey. Its me. I got the job,” Tina said happily.

Turning her cell phone off, as she walked into a warm, comfy, with interesting paintings on the wall, as the room covered with wood including the fireplace. A brown couch-like chair sat front of the large, mahogany desk with papers and books covering the surface.
She greeted the sight of older man with an earring and snow white hair, spiking slightly as he seemed to run through it with his hand as he focused into his work, sapphire blue eyes greeted her warmly as they shake their hands. He gestured her to sit down, she sank into the chair, feeling serene.
“Well, Bette Porter. As you know my name, youre interested in seeing someone like me to help you figure out what is going on within you,” He put his glasses on, Bette instantly liked him and he made the atmosphere between them comfortable.
Bettes eyes met his directly, “Yes. Dr. Shaw, I needed to see someone who can be objective and help me to figure out why I have been doing it to myself, hurting other people, bringing them down to my level,” Embarrassed, Bette never felt so exposed but its liberating, being raw and honest.
He smiled gently, knowing they have a lot of work to shift through this womans complex nature and to see why she has the walls inside of her.
“Thats why Im here for. To be honest, it wont be easy and you have the choice to stop or continue. We will continue to go along your pace, as we open up about your life, choices, and the influences around you, and what is making you scared. Now are you ready?” Dr. Shaw said frankly, sitting back and watching her.
Bette exhaled, she had waited too long and she need to resolve everything that has been inside of her, so she can get her life back on the track and she can be content of who she is. Moving on to make a new life and her new path of getting a gallery.
Needing this, “Yes.” Bette smiled, determined to make it possible and getting something out of those sessions. Dr. Shaw nodded as they stood up and made an appointment to meet again.

Finally her hand found the phone and dragged it to her ear, she mumbled, “Hello?” Silence linger, her brows knitted in perplexity. Sighing as she hung up the phone, which was the tenth prank call she received this morning. Deciding the best way to get rid of nagging phone calls, she put the phone off the hook. Bleary, Dana stirred her coffee. Relieved, Tonya is not there at the club to watch her practice.
“Hey, Dana.” Lara waved her hand front of Danas face; trying to, get her attention as Dana stared off into the space. ” Its time to come back to the earth,” Lara said drolly
.
Feeling pair of eyes boring into her face, Dana snapped back to attention.
“Sorry. I was just tired. All those stupid prank calls kept me awake.” Concerned, Lara put her hand over Danas.
“Maybe you should change your phone numbers.” Dana nodded, agreeing with her.
The waiter came up to Lara, motioning her over. “Ill be back in a sec,” Lara said, following the waiter.
Dana sighed, rubbed her eyes tiredly. She watched Lara getting upset as she waved him away. Lara came back, sat down as she muttered to herself, how could she fix this mess. Laras eyes met Dana; her eyes grew wide, brightened up and her smile curved upwards.
Uh oh. If Lara get that gleam, shes screwed. Not wanting to be part of Laras bright idea, she started to stand up. “I have to go. See you later.” She turned around quickly and started to walk away.
“Stay here, Dana,” Lara commanded. Dana paused, cursing herself of not doing that ” couldnt hear her” thing. Dana walked back slowly, sulking.
“We dont have enough waiters so Im asking you a huge favor. If you ask your friends to help out for tomorrow night, I really appreciate that. They will get paid for the work,” Lara explained, her eyes begging Dana to agree. Couldnt resist Laras eyes, Dana nodded and trying to figure out how to convince everyone to pitch in.
“Oh thank you. I love you,” Lara said laughingly as she lunged across the table to hug Dana. Holding Lara in her arms, she smiled weakly and her resolve is weakening, trying not to touch Lara. Her eyes closed, loving the feel of her. Wondering if Lara realized what she said to her, Dana sighed. Lara disengaged herself, needing to work out the last minute details. Kissing Dana on her cheek, “Meet me here at 8 pm tomorrow.” Lara disappeared into the kitchen. Dana pulled out her cell phone, started to make calls to her friends, asking them to meet her at Planet tomorrow morning and telling them its important.

As the office filled with chattering, people moved around as they busied themselves with work. Alice sniffed the aroma of coffee, loving the smell in the first thing in the morning.
She brought out her laptop, putting it on her desk. She set out to work, few hours came and left, she concentrated on her column. Tuning out the world, as she focused on the words flowing through her thoughts.
The soda dangling front of her face, disrupting her concentration, Alice frowned at Jack. Jack moved to his desk, looking into her almond brown eyes intently.
“We need to talk about last night,” Jack said, wanting to understand Alices motives.
“Like I told you, that subject is closed. I am not attracted to you.” Alice continued to move her fingers as she typed on her laptop.
Frustrated, “Liar,” Jack grounded out. Jack moved swiftly around the desk and grabbed her arm, dragging her to the darkroom. Jack closed the door quickly, seeing the room is empty.
“Hey. What are you doing?” Alice tried to walk past Jack, wanting to get out. Jack surprised her as he leaned down, kissing her quick and hard, Alice stumbled backwards, pushing him away, but her confused emotions jumbled around her head and heart.
Who cares, Alice thought, bringing Jacks head closer to her, as she kissed him tenderly and her tongue licked his bottom lip, seeking access, Jack groaned as he opened his mouth, their tongues played with each other. His lower body started to harden, needing to feel her body; he pulled her body closer to him. He grinded slightly against her, needing to seek some relief but found none.
Alice gasped, as his mouth moved down to her neck as he made some biting kisses along the way, causing her head falling backwards as she put her hands on his butt, pulling him more into her. Feeling him between her legs, the tingling increased in her stomach. They both quickly are losing control, but the doorknob twisted and turned, did not open. The reality came crashing down, they sprang apart, panting and they shared the look of wanting each other.
“Now we know were attracted to each other. We are going on a date. Ill tell you when and what time. I will see you around, partner,” Jack stated emphatically. Opening the door, he looked back, liking the sight of her being tousled up. He smiled smugly and closed the door as his footsteps falling away.
Alice knew there is nothing stopping between them, almost trying to survive in a tidal wave but she broke out into a huge grin, liking where they are going. She forgot about her insecurities for a moment, she laid her head on the door and her smile now content.
