Centre of my Universe, Part 29

From the look on April Sullivan’s face her thoughts matched those of the baby cat.

Mags saw the two women standing there over Helena’s shoulder but could just look and smile at them. She recognized Bette from pictures she had seen and even if she hadn’t she would have deciphered who she was anyway.

The other woman was a stranger to her, but she knew she would get introduced once Helena got her bearings together. Which she surmissed was any time soon now.

Just as that thought left her brain, she looked down. What she saw made her smile even bigger. A cat sat there, watching Helena and her embrace. Then he looked over his shoulder to Bette and mewed.

That was the final straw for Helena to pick up her head from her Nanny’s shoulder. Who promptly provided a handkerchief for her one time charge to dry her tears and clean her nose.

April hadn’t moved an inch from her place, but Bette had taken the few steps and was now standing behind her girlfriend.

Helena did what the look from her Mags told her and blushed lightly.

„Ms. Waters, nice to finally meet you.“ Bette offered her hand.

„Ms. Porter, likewise.“ Margret Waters didn’t take the hand held out to her. Instead she took a step further and embraced Bette in a full body hug.

To say Bette was flabbergasted was slightly out of proportion, but she took the hug for what it was. Acceptance of her place in Helena’s life ! And that felt really, really good.

Helena just stood there and smiled at the two most important women in her life. A life that just had turned out better then she ever hoped it would be.

Finally Margret Waters let go of Bette. „So, Bette, after we are now properly introduced, I’d like to get to know the little one sitting there… and of course the nice lady over there who is wondering her heart out at what the devil is going on here, right ?“

Helena blushed again and before she could utter a word, Bette took charge. „You are possibly right, Ms. Waters. Let me…“

A handsign from Ms. Waters stopped her speech. „No, no, young lady, there is no Ms. Waters for you here. You may call me Margret or Mags as the little devil does.“

Bette exchanged an amused grin with Helena before minding her matters. „Ok, Margret, thank you. And now let me introduce you to our friend Dr. April Sullivan. She is the vet for our boy Blue here.“

One hand drew April near while the other pointed at Blue.

„I bet there is an interesting story behind of this one. Helena, you never said anything about getting a cat as a surplus of getting Bette.“ Her eyes sparkled with mischief and Bette got an inkling where her lover got her own wit from.

If she didn’t know better, she would have thought Margret Waters was Helena’s mother and not Peggy Peabody.

After finally getting properly introduced to April, Bette and April left them for a few minutes. Bette remembered April’s need for fresh clothes and a shower and she wanted to have Helena and Mags a few minutes of alone time before the house would possibly getting full again.

    3. This was a wonderful surprise, I really missed this story very much. You’re Bette and Helena are the perfect couple and you portray them with so much dept and feeling. Who could not love Blue, the little heartbreaker, he and Angie will do perfectly I’m sure of that. Please don’t wait 9 months anymore to post the next chapter, you’re a much to good writer to keep silent for that long.
