CHAPTER FIFTY-NINE
Bette pulled away immediately. That almost caused Alex to fall out of the couch, but she regained her grip and looked the other way while Bette was taking a seat at the other side of the tiny living room. The brunette was confused.
“I love Tina, you know that. She’s the love of my life, always has been. I’m not in love with you, Alex! What the hell was this about?”
Alex laughed loudly. “Just wanted to see. Just wanted to see what you’d do.” She laughed again, clearly very drunk. “Maybe everyone’s a cheater. Maybe I am.”
“No. You don’t know that. And you shouldn’t have kissed me to find out. I’ll have to tell Tina and she’s not gonna like, despite the fact you’re drunk off your ass right now. Maybe she won’t want me to see you again, is that what you want?”
“Oh, is she your mom now?” Alex asked scornfully.
“No, she’s the partner I trust and I know she trusts me. We are honest with each other and tell each other everything. I just don’t want this… thing to come up later and then she wouldn’t understand why I didn’t tell her and suspect I have feelings for you, which I don’t,” she said in one breath. “Listen, Alex. You can stay the night, but you’ll have to leave in the morning. You better don’t pull a stunt like that on me again.”
“Right,” Alex said and almost immediately fell asleep. Bette wasn’t sure if she was really sleeping or just pretending. She got out a blanket and draped it over her drunk friend. While she was doing this, she made a decision. One she should have made ages ago.
>>>
Tina came home from a busy day with Chinese take-out. She was too tired to cook and had ordered a few dishes because she was hungry as hell. She found she wasn’t cooking as often as when Bette was there, almost as if it wasn’t worth the trouble if she was the only person to feed.
She missed her girlfriend immensely, but tried to downplay those feelings when they talked over the phone or saw each other. She didn’t want to sulk or worry in the little time they got to spend together, she rather enjoyed it – or rather, enjoyed her girlfriend’s body. She did know that Bette wasn’t as happy as she thought she’d be, but she hoped things would be better when Fanny left. She really did.

Yes! No they don’t need drama and neither do we. Your story keeps me on board, drama or not.
Great save there Genner :)
Yes! That was a good Tuesday. :) Thanks for the post, Genner.
YES YES YES.. I agree with Tina, that was awesome, well Bette seems a lot more mature in this one than in the show.. =D Thanks so much for this, it made my day! PPVS! =))
Yay!!
Much better.Great chapter.Thanks.
A Tibette wedding to come :)
From potential drama to proposal. That was a great way to settle my anxiety. Thanks for the post gen.
Hey Genner, Another fabulous chapter as Bette made a few life-changing and affirming choices.Tina is the most important thing in her life and without her Bette had no desire to fulfill her dream. Amazing how things change when you don’t have someone to share them with. Now I can’t wait to find out how the gang and families react to this union of souls.More please and many thanks from Your Loyal Fan.
Yea Bette, get yourself back to New Haven. You saved the day Genner and I love the way you did it. They really didn’t need to be away from each other but Bette had to at least try it. She has also seen the fickle nature of people as well and that made her think a bit about what’s important. Glad she made the choice to go back home to Tina, New York will always be there. She is taking the most sensible approach to realizing her dream of owning her own gallery. Work in one first with good people and be happy doing it then everything will fall into place. Great update. Thanks for posting.
