    A New Life

    Chapter 13 – New York

    The next morning, the alarm rang at 5:00 am. Tina was shocked at how early Bette had decided to get up.

    Bette:  Come on Tina.  Let’s go for a run.  We’ll be sleeping on the plane so we need to get a little exercise.

    Tina:  Okay…I’ll go get ready.

    Tina exited the bed and went to her room to dress and pull herself together for the morning. She was soon downstairs to a waiting Bette. Bette handed her a bottle of water.

    Bette: Let’s do some stretches and get going. We need to be back in about an hour and fifteen minutes.

    Tina:  Okay. Let’s do this.

    They were soon running side by side down the sidewalk in the early morning haze. They returned to the house at 6:15. They decided to shower and dress before they made breakfast. Tina went in to wake Angie and make sure she was up.

    She then went to her room and headed for the shower. She soon was dressed in her jeans and sweater and wearing her house slippers. She took her towels and dirty laundry down and started breakfast.  She went to find an apron to cover her clothes.  She started a load of her own clothes. The towels could wait until others brought their down.

    Bette came down wearing black jeans and a pullover sweater and her favorite pair of boots. The sweater was a burgundy color and brought out the color in her face. Her mocha skin had a rosy tint of freshness and youth. She definitively did not look like a woman of fifty-four years old.

    Tina:  Wow., you and I are going to be twins. Except my sweater is going to be green.

    Bette:  Are you going to be wearing boots as well?

    Tina:  Yeah, I am.  Its winter in New York. I’m going to wear my suede jacket as well.  You know the one you stored for me for the past ten years?

    Bette:  Is that going to be enough? I can loan you a heavy coat if you need one.

    Tina:  I have a couple of heavy coats at the apartment. I’ll be fine. I won’t be outdoors very long. That coat will be fine.

    1. Hey Martha,

      I’m just as Tina surprised about how Carrie reacted to Tina breaking of with her, maybe she expected it or she is deep inside happy that Tina was the one to break it of while she wanted it as well, or she was simply shocked as hell and couldn’t react to it’s at that moment.

      I can say I’m shocked with how soon Bette and Tina are girlfriends again and even more that they are intimate so soon after Tina broke it of with Carrie, what should be the timeline, a few hours between the talk Tina had with Carrie and having sex with Bette?

      I am surprised Bette immediately agreed to be Tina’s girlfriend, what happened with Tina proving to her with actions and other things that she is serious about Bette being the woman she wants? Did she only had to prove it by breaking up her relationship with Carrie, no other things?

      Don’t misunderstand me but i got the impression that it would take more than a few ours to get Bette to agree giving Tina a new change, i know they still have to work out but this seems rushed, Tina again jumping from one relationship to another one without working on her issues first.

      Saw you posted the next chapter, will read it now.

    2. Sometimes people make decision without thinking about the consequences or what is appropriate or not appropriate. Yes, I think Bette is taking on a lot of risk by being this impetuous. But Bette’s desire to have Tina back in her life has simply jumped in front of her fear that she may be hurt again. Besides, Bette agreed that she would go for an attempt at reconciliation once Tina provided evidence that Bette was the one she wanted. For me agreeing to be one’s girlfriends is not agreeing to attempting a reconciliation. And even in the attempting a reconciliation, there are no guarantees that Tina will get to her issues straightened out.

      These two may not take the steps in mending their relationship in a recommended order. But they will go through a process to identify them and come to a reasonable basis to have a good life together. They still have much to talk about and some understandings that they need to reach. Let’s see how this story plays out…
