Chapter 2
(Bette) Who were you talking to?
Tina doesn’t immediately answer, and Bette nods and looks to the floor. They sit in silence for a long moment before Bette looks to her.
(Bette) How long have you been together?
Tina looks over at her and they hold each other’s gaze.
(Tina) A few years
Bette looks back at her and takes a breath.
(Bette) It’s serious then?
Tina looks to the floor for a moment. She raises her eyes to Bette’s.
(Tina) We’re engaged Bette
Bette raises her hand and rubs her forehead, and Tina watches her. She speaks to her gently.
(Tina) Bette, it’s been a long time since we were together. You’re seeing someone too
Bette lowers her hand and looks over at her.
(Bette) Well hand me my phone, I’ll break up with her right now. What’s her name?
Tina gives a small laugh and holds her hand over her eyes.
(Tina) Bette
Tina lowers her hand and they look at each other affectionately for a moment.
(Bette) How long have I been with her?
Tina sighs.
(Tina) A year maybe, I’m not sure exactly
Bette nods.
(Bette) Where is she now?
(Tina) She’s away, New York I think. Alice is trying to get onto her
Bette raises her eyebrows.
(Bette) Well then really do hand me my phone. I don’t want that to happen
(Tina frowns) Bette she needs to know what’s going on
(Bette) I think I get to decide that and I don’t want anyone to contact her
Tina looks at her uncertainly as Bette reaches past her and picks up her phone from the bedside table.
That afternoon, Bette is lying in the bed and Tina sitting alongside her, and they both look to the doctor as they enter the room. Tina goes to stand and Bette reaches over and places her hand on Tina’s forearm.
(Bette) Please stay
Tina looks at her uncertainly for a moment, and then nods.
(Tina) OK
The doctor looks between them and then addresses Bette.
(Doctor) All of your scans are clear, so we’re confident that this is a symptom of the concussion. We’re going to discharge you, so you can go home. We’re going to need a lot of outpatient consultation while you’re recovering and as long as the memory issues remain. In the meantime someone is going to have to stay with you

Interesting story… seems I have read a similar one in the past year or so, Only in that story it was Tina who had retro-amnesia instead of Bette. So let’s see where this goes… Bette seemed a bit distant from Tina prior to the accident. They did truly seem like they had been divorced or separated a long time.
I find it funny perhaps awkward that in Bette’s current state that she is ready to break up with her girl friend (Julia) immediately yet she cannot remember her name. Anxious to see what happens next…
Thanks for the story…
I just the same story a few days ago and it is definitely similar
