Chapter 22 – Give it Up for Kit Porter & the Stouts!
Yesterday, Tina had been rushing around the office making confirmations of all arrangements for the big show. She was anxious to head out to the Planet so she could speak with the owner and try to get some contact info for Kit and the Stouts. That plan went awry when Helena caught her in her office and asked to take her out to lunch at Spago as her way of apologizing for stepping on Tina’s toes at Monday’s meeting.
Although Tina had accepted Helena’s apology over a Lobster Cobb Salad, she knew that it was motivated by the fact that Papi had stopped returning Helena’s calls. The media mogul complained of the explanation she was given that Papi had to “focus on her craft and the band before the show” the entire lunch. Tina wasn’t too sympathetic to Helena’s cause. Papi had a point. The focus should be the band and not new relationships, but she knew it was never Papi’s intention to begin a relationship with Helena.
Of course, Tina would never verbalize that to the British chairwoman of her parent company. Nevertheless, she allowed Helena to vent. She did discuss the dangers of dating in the workplace which prompted her to tell Helena about her break up with Eric.
Helena followed Tina and the tribe of groupies into the main hall where Third Wheel would take the stage. Glancing at her watch, Tina promptly trotted her way up to the stage and introduced the band via microphone.
As the three women with the number seven single in America took the stage and began playing the title track off the “Female Rejuvenation” album, Tina made her way backstage where Oscar and Esai were waiting for her.
“Hey, guys.” Tina greeted her street team.
“Hi boss. We were just getting ready to go scout the Planet for any sign of the band or the manager that you may want to talk to when you get there.” Esai explained.
“Okay, sounds good. Keep me posted. I’m gonna stick around once sound check is complete and the station winners are shown to the band’s green room, I’m gonna go change, and make my way there.”
“Make your way where, darling?” Helena asked as she joined them backstage.
