Chapter 22 – Give it Up for Kit Porter & the Stouts!

She noticed that her breathing became more erratic as she got ready. Having spent the entire night thinking about Bette and whether or not she would be at this show tonight, her nerves started to get the best of her.

What if she’s with someone? What if she doesn’t show up? What if I’m completely wrong and out of my mind and Bette has no connection to this band at all? Tina was on the verge of driving herself crazy. She steadied her breathing and meditated a little before hearing her door bell.

Grabbing her purse, she took one last look at herself in the mirror in the entryway to her house. She opened the door and there stood Dana.

Her friend gave her the once over with raised eyebrows and whistled. “Wow. You look great, T. Is this a date? I thought you were done with office romances?” Her friend joked.

“Shut up, and let’s get to Pink’s, I’m starving.”

KDG Offices: T-Minus 2 Minutes to Show Time

“Fuck you, Leonard. Just fuck you.” Bette said as she did the final proofread on the third draft of the Power Point she had been working on.

After speaking with Leonard for nearly 45 minutes shortly after Alice and Tayo left her office, he had come up with an entirely different pitch idea on the flight that he wanted Bette to base the Power Point on. The angered ad exec had been working on the changes since, and each time she emailed it to him, he would call wanting her to add more flair here or a new statistical chart there.

She hadn’t even had a chance to eat the salad Alice brought and her empty stomach was revolting. Even thought she had accessed the administrator site for the video stream and she could hear the audio through her computer’s speakers of the gathering audience and Carmen spinning some records as people arrived, she got up from her desk to grab her salad still bagged on the credenza across the room. So of course, she didn’t see a decked out blonde make her way to sit with her fellow co-workers on the cameras.

Bette sat back down at her desk and took a few quick bites of her food. She had the presentation nearly finished, but had already phoned Kit to let her know that she would watch the first song or two via the live stream since her boss was a monster. Her curiosity started to get the better of her when she heard the increased volume of the crowd signaling a large turn out and began paying close attention to what was happening on the live stream.
