    Chapter 8 The next morning, Bette is working in her office at the gallery and hears a gentle knocking at the door. She looks up to see Tina, smiling at her from the open doorway with her hand hovering by the frame. (Tina) Hey (Bette smiles) Hey They smile at each other. (Bette) You’re here

    Chapter 8

    The next morning, Bette is working in her office at the gallery and hears a gentle knocking at the door. She looks up to see Tina, smiling at her from the open doorway with her hand hovering by the frame.

    (Tina) Hey

    (Bette smiles) Hey

    They smile at each other.

    (Bette) You’re here to see the gallery?

    (Tina nods) Yes, you said it was OK to come past?

    (Bette smiles) Of course

    (Tina) Well I won’t keep you. I just wanted to say hi and let you know that I’m here

    Bette smiles at her and nods towards the main room.

    (Bette) Go and get started. Just give me ten minutes and I’ll meet you out there, I’ll give you a tour

    Tina smiles as she takes a step into the office.

    (Tina) You don’t need to do that

    (Bette) I want to

    Tina looks at her uncertainly and Bette smiles back at her.

    (Bette) Really, I’d love to

    Tina smiles and leans her head to one side as she takes in Bette’s obvious excitement at the prospect.

    (Tina) OK, well thank you. Is it an alright time though? I can obviously come back whenever if you’re busy

    (Bette smiles) It’s fine

    She turns back to her laptop screen and points towards her with a smile.

    (Bette) Ten minutes


    Bette finishes up in her office and walks through to the main room of the gallery. She makes her way over to Tina, who is standing captivated by a particular painting, and Bette speaks to her as she approaches.

    (Bette) Of course I find you standing in front of my favourite piece

    Tina turns to her with eyebrows raised.

    (Tina) It’s extraordinary

    She looks back up towards the painting.

    (Tina) I think I’m stuck here for the afternoon

    Bette smiles as she positions herself alongside her, joining her in admiring the work.

    (Bette) It’s been here for weeks now and I still spend time right here, every day

    They turn to each other and share an affectionate look.

    (Bette smiles) Come on, I’ll take you through the rest

    They move together throughout the space and Bette offers her insights as she draws Tina’s attention to certain details and shares interesting facts about the collection. At other times they move together silently, Bette allowing Tina to guide her own experience of the exhibit. Tina turns to Bette in a quiet moment.

    4. Agree that the building momentum is tantalizing! I’m looking 4ward to the intro of Angie to the mix.

      Meanwhile, if Tibette hooks up b4 the Tina-Angie reunion, it will be a pleasant surprise for Angie to see them being civil and loving like they were most of her life
