They stood in silence for a little while, shoulder to shoulder, breathing in the chilly morning air.
“I love you, Bette… and we don’t even have to give Charlie and Jeremy’s offer a second thought if you don’t think it’s a good idea. We’ll find some other way…” Tina said and looked at Bette’s oddly inexpressive face.
Bette snapped out of her train of thought. She turned and pulled Tina into her arms.
“I love you too….” Bette smiled and very gently put a strand of hair behind Tina ear.
“But?” Tina asked.
“And…. I think we should take their offer under careful consideration…”
“… you do?” Tina said with honest surprise.
“Yes, I do.”
“But Bette… Charlie is in our life…. our child would have to know Charlie is the donor…” Tina said, searching Bette’s eyes. She expected to find fear of insecurity, but Bette just looked back at her with a reassuring smile.
“I know…. but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing….”
“It isn’t…?”
“You know I lived most of my life wondering what it would have been like to have my mom in my life… I’ve lived with the void that my mother’s death left… I know what it is like not knowing….” Bette said.
“I realize that… but no matter what our child would have two parents who loved him or her more than anything….”
“I know… but Tina, we have done the research…. you and I both know that so many children who are not biologically related to their parents keep longing to know more… if we choose Charlie as the donor, our child wouldn’t suffer that loss,” Bette said.
“That’s true….” Tina said, completely astounded by Bette’s open-minded approach.
“You… you don’t think it’s worth thinking about?” Bette asked.
“Yes, I do… I do… I’m just surprised that you’re so willing to discuss this, that’s all. I think you’re absolutely right…. we would give our child the gift of knowledge by choosing Charlie as the donor. But Bette…” Tina stopped taking a moment to choose her words carefully.
“You’re afraid I’ll feel threatened…?” Bette asked, reading Tina’s mind.
“Kind of, yes… you wouldn’t? Cause baby, I don’t think it’s worth considering if you’re not completely comfortable with it.”
“Somehow, I don’t think I would feel threatened. I couple of years ago… sure, I definitely would have. But I feel different about it today… I mean Charlie wouldn’t have a say in how we bring up our son or daughter…. every decision would be ours, yours and mine. That’s how I want it. But I like the thought of Charlie being there if our child would want to know him…. or ask him of his background. I’d like for our child to have that opportunity,” Bette said, still looking intently at Tina.
“Baby… you just never cease to amaze me with this new calm and reflective version of the Bette I’ve always loved…. I love that you’re willing to think this over with me….” Tina said, leaning in to hug Bette.

So let me get this straight.. **no pun intended***You like a demanding woman who begs? But the more I demand the slower the pace, hmmm…..interesting. ***smiling with mischievous grin *** What motivates you to increase the pace? **are you blushing yet?**LOL! I’m tickled that I was able to impress you with my “powers”. **puffing up my feathers, smiling** LOL! It rained for an entire week? Yikes! Next time I’ll call on my powers for good & not evil. You could have prevented it by posting sooner…so technically, it’s your fault! LOL! Seriously, it’s wonderful to hear that your feeling better. B & T have wonderful friends. Charlie offering to be a donor is such generous act of love . We could all use more friends like Charlie in our lives. Hugs to you for posting another brilliant chapter. Ciao.
Loving this story anker. Bette and Tina have come a long way, I can’t wait to read more so post soon.
Some how I missed the last chapter but now I am up to speed per se. I am excited to see if they go through with the insemination and try for the family that they both want. Both are probably very scared because of what happened the last time. Not only did they lose the baby but they lost each other. This time it will be a better experience for them.

At last! I was about to put an APB out on you, anker… you had me worried. Okay, the chapter: B & T are really lucky to have such selfless friends as Charlie and Jeremy. Charlie being the donor is the perfect solution, he’s a friend, he looks like Bette, and that they’re not insisting on parental rights this time around takes a lot of pressure out of the decision to accept his offer. Bette and Tina couldn’t ask for more. And it’s far better than going “fishin in the pond” for a donor. They might have gotten an old boot, or a bald tire, or… worse. As for the rest… I love the way Bette can make Tina blush with a couple of innocent words… too cute. And I think Tina had better stop with the cracks about Bette’s age. A woman’s supposed to reach her peak around 40. Anyway, I think Bette could be 80 and hobbling around with a Zimmer frame and still be game. Nice of Tina to let Bette “win” tho… Right, I’ve gabbed enough, see what happens when you go away for so long? You can’t shut me up. Thank you for the chapter, it was wonderful as always. Anker, you are just something else. These last two chapters were great and I don’t care how long you take to post a new one because when you do….well what can I say but it is so worth the wait. Your writing is so very good that this story could be about any two woman and I would still read it and want more. What they have accomplished together is what we all hope to have and if any of your readers do have this I hope they cherish it. Now I must say that anker you are the epitome of the word friend. As someone whom as come to know you because of this site I must say that anyone who can call you their friend is a very fortunate person. Thank you so very much my friend!

This is a fantastic B&T story. I really enjoy reading the emotions that they go through personally, and as a couple. I also love the additions that you have made to the group. Charlie and Jeremy seem like really great friends and very supportive of bette and tina…that is just sweet!

Hey Anker, Happy to just say it as it is. You are a fabulous writer who captures the heart and soul of the gals and lets her fingers create a magnificent story. Thank you for taking the time to reply personnally. It is much appreciated. Now this chapter showed how much love Bette and Tina have for one another. There was a real tenderness and gentleness between them. The care and attention they each bestowed on the other was awesome. Romance is alive and well and living in your fine words. As for Charlie’s kind gift; it may have knocked Bette and Tina for six initially but now they are both thinking seriously plus talking about it. the good times are here and rolling along. Aww. Adorable chapter. I knew when you introduced Charlie as the male Bette he would probably be the donor. But I’m glad they moved off the shared parenting thing for sure. I can’t wait for them to be a happy little family with a baby. I love how sweet they were together in this chapter.. across the dinner table. Just how it should be. PPS.
