Coming up for air – part fourteen
Bette knew Tina loved Henry’s son and she’d said that Henry wouldn’t allow her to see him again. Tina had always had the ability to give her heart away fully. There was a time when Bette had been the recipient of the unique treasure it was to hold onto Tina’s heart. It was a gift she had been in awe of, and it had allowed Bette to return the favor, giving her heart, her love, her life to Tina. Bette had never trusted anybody like that before. She knew no one could ever make her trust like Tina did.
When Tina became pregnant, Bette realized she’d have to share Tina’s love with their child. Strangely enough, it didn’t scare Bette the least. She knew without a doubt that Tina had enough love for both of them. When their son died, quite literally, a part of Tina died too and it simultaneously killed off part of Tina’s love for Bette. At least that was what Bette thought at the time. Bette had been late to the doctor’s office, she hadn’t been there to witness what being pregnant meant to Tina, what it did to her body and mind. And because she hadn’t been there, Tina had lost the love she once had for Bette… or misplaced it perhaps, Bette didn’t know. Bette’s affair with Candace had been the ultimate betrayal at a time, when Bette should have done everything she could to convince Tina that she wanted, needed, and was worthy of regaining the love they had lost. Bette winced at the thought of what that time had done to Tina.
Tina had changed, becoming this cold, vindictive, spiteful shell, who seemingly despised Bette. She had flaunted Helena in Bette’s face, knowing very well what that did to her. And then suddenly she disappeared. From one day to the other she was gone. Bette never saw her anywhere and she still refused to take any of Bette’s calls. Shortly after Bette found out that Melvin was sick. She had let Tina know about this, leaving a message for her with her answering service. Bette never heard a word from her. She didn’t feel like she deserved Tina’s sympathy but still, she was disappointed. She needed Tina worse than ever during those days, when Melvin was dying. After that Bette had sunk deeper and deeper into depression. She drowned her self in work and alcohol. Work was all she did; the rest of her life was on hold.

Bette is right Tina have been living under a lot of estress and sadness that she needs to start rebuilding her life with Bette. I hope they will be so happy together
Think IC will ever give them a chance?? Thanks for the great story. OH..and children do make things a lot more messy when you break up.
Another great chapter, it’s nice to see them spending time together.
I think the healing has begun because they are talking and taking things slow. Great chapter and again I can’t wait until you post the next one.
I love your story – so happy when I see you’ve posted. I think they are getting back to Square one.
second chances are great, i hope they both will cherish their connection and will have a child together one day
Henry sucks! I think Bette will step up to the plate and carry a child. I don’t think Tina is mentally prepared to carry another child right now. I love the time they are spending together. They need this.
Thank goodness for second and maybe even third chances. Unfortunately, children do get caught up in adults’ messes. It is the adults who do not use the brains that were given to them at birth.
This is a really hopeful chapter, despite the sadness of their past mistakes and Tina losing Mikey. Great stuff, anker, post soon.
Bette said something about Tina being a mother some day. Would the baby be Bette’s? Hope so. Great chap, i felt sorry for Tina. Just like Bette was thinking, Tina has been through so much in the last year or so. When she makes it through this and maybe bette and her will get back together ;), she will be a stronger person. PPS
Great chapter!
Really wonderful chapter!!! I think they took a step in the right direction to each other. Thank you PPS
I’ve never been very fond of people who use children as pons. Love is not a game, and the one that usually gets hurt the most is the child. Fortunately none of my ex’s have ever kept the children away from me after we broke up. Our girls have been through a lot, but as always if they stick together they can pretty much just about accomplish anything.
it’s great to see that they r taking things 1 step at a time longer
Losing your own child before birth or after is devastating so I do understand Tina’s feelings towards Bette at that time as you’ve represented them…and losing a child u’ve shared with someone else is also devastating but I feel for Henry because it seems like he gave his heart to T…and he feels used…and I think T feels guilty for having done this…I do think Bette is the only one who can fix T…and no babies just yet…let T get better…and some alone time for them…then bring on the babies…I feel for Mikey and I just hope that Mikey’s mom might recognize that Mikey is fond of T…maybe T needs therapy from a woman who knows what its like….Bette is being so loving…PPS
A beautiful chapter and well written. I am very happy that Tina and Bette are finding their way back into each other’s hearts. True love never dies and their love was true. Tina never really loved Henry, she loved Mikey but never Henry. Henry was just an object in my opinion. Please continue with the wonderful story!
Good that Bettes there to help Tina!
