Nicole couldn’t help but smile at the fact she had been set straight by this little five year old spit fire. “Ok.. I understand now. How do you feel about having a Momma and a Mommy instead of just your Momma or a Momma and a Daddy?”

“I feel lucky. It used to be just Momma. Now there is Momma and Mommy. Every kid should have two parents that love them lots! Doesn’t matter if it’s two Mommies, a Mommy and a Daddy or two Daddies just as long as it’s tow people that love them.”

“Those are some pretty grown up things to say. Can you tell me why you feel that way?” Nicole wondered if she had been coached.

“At my school some kids have two Daddies that play with them and take good care of them those kids are happy. My friend Michelle her Mommy and Daddy live in different houses. They didn’t used to though when they lived in the same house they yelled a lot and her Daddy stayed away a lot. Michelle was sad a lot. Now they both take care of her and play with her. She is happy now that she has two people who love her. It used to be just Momma, we didn’t have a Daddy or another Mommy. Momma loved us very much, but Momma wasn’t always happy. When she was sad we were sad, and sometimes she was busy, but now Momma is happy a lot, and when Momma is busy Mommy is there to love us and play with us, and Momma does the same with Bubby.”

“Well you are a very grown up young lady. You Momma and Mommy must be very proud of you.”

“They are… they tell me so.. a lot. And Auntie Kit says I’m Baby Bette…..” Nicole couldn’t help but laugh. “Can I ask you a question Nicole?”

“Of course”

“What does that mean?”

“That means your Auntie Kit thinks you are just like your Mommy.”

“Really?”

“Really!”

“Cool”

Skyler lead Nicole back downstairs. Where they found Bette, Tina, Hailey, and Colin.

“All done Momma!”

“Good job sweetie!”

“So which one of them would you like to talk to next?” Bette asked.

“Well actually I don’t think I will need to talk to the others.” Bette and Tina both got a look of terror in their eyes. “Kids I need to talk to your Momma and Mommy for a few more minutes.”

“Ok.. Momma can we go outside again?”

“Yes Baby.”

“Don’t forget… stay in the back yard.” Bette added.

“Ok Mommy” Colin yelled as they all trailed out the door.

“Is there a problem?” Bette asked as soon as she heard the door close.

“No..No there is no problem.”

“We were under the impression you would need to talk to all three of the kids.” Tina inquired.

“Well normally I would, but in your case I see absolutely no reason why I shouldn’t recommend this adoption. You both seem tho have an amazing relationship with the children, and I believe your daughter said it best. ‘really lucky, cause every kid should have two parents who love them and take care of them.’” Bette & Tina both wore smiles that threatened to break their faces in half. “You ladies have an amazing little girl and you are both doing a wonderful job with them all”

“Thank you!” Tina’s response what short but hearfelt.

“Thank you very much!” Bette could find no other words at the moment.

“No ladies thank you… todays visit has been very pleasant and extremely refreshing. Please send my regards to Joyce and please let her know my report will be filed with the courthouse by close of business tomorrow.” Nicole let herself out but before she got off the front porch she heard the squeals and cheers of celebration coming from the house. She thought to herself ‘That is why I got in this business’ as she walked to her car.
