    The deer moved unknowing around the forest and the figure watched its prey. She could hear the blood plumping through its veins and she got that familiar burning in her throat. She kept watching waiting for it to get closer before she pounced. When the deer got close enough for her she moved towards it but a branch snapped under her feet. Fuck she thought as the deer started to run. Oh well she thought again and began to run. The trees shook under the power off her blinding speed. She loved to run it helped to pass the drudgery of the days. When you don’t sleep and your alive for all eternity what can you really do to past the time. Her speed was no match for the deer and she devoured ever last drop of its blood. She licked her lips clean, and ran some more. She thought about just skipping the first day of school but her adopted mother Tina stressed that they try their best to act human. Bette her other adopted mother and the one who made her into a creature of the night, would stress the importance of keeping a good name in their new town so nobody would become suspicious. She scoffed at that remark for the last 700 years of her new existence. Shane was tired of the whole routine. She had been through the whole high school routine too many times to count, and then after they graduated, they would go off to college, and then after that moving to another town to start over again. It was exhausting as if she could actually sleep or feel anything. She was a vampire, and her whole existence seemed wrong to her, and Shane had a lot of self loathing. She could never feel, age, sleep, or breathe, and the biggest of them all die. So many times she tried but she failed. She was stuck this way for all time. She was every person’s dream 17 forever but to her it was a nightmare. She ran harder and faster testing her strength. At this rate she could run all the way to Canada but that would surely piss her family off. They had school soon and Shane new she had to go home eventually. Alice was probably bouncing off the wall so excited, and Tasha was probably nervous. Jenny would be completely bored, and Tim would be happy to flex his muscles in front of all of the human jocks. Not that he could compete in sports anyway. If he ever collided into a human he could kill them. They all could their bodies were like hard cold stone to humans. Shane made an abrupt turn and ran home. She opened the door to her house and every body came rushing to her at once.
