    Party Crashers

    Rhaina walked the path that she remembered from her childhood.  It was the nature of maturity that what seemed so vast at the time suddenly seemed so much smaller.  The woodland path from the palace to the lake was as dense as she remembered it was not as long however.  A small trail that she knew led to a small cabin caught her eye.  It was a place where she and Rheana would escape to be free as teens and later to meet with lovers. 

     

    Her Fleet training kicked in as she walked down the path.  The hairs at the back of her neck warned her that something was not quite right. She turned to duck into the brush when she felt strong arms close about her and a hand cover her mouth. 

     

    “Majesty” Rau whispered in her ear. “Please be still and quiet.  It is not safe here.”  She slowly released her turning her to a small space where they could see the path without being seen.  Rau stood before her effectively guarding her and allowing her to witness what was transpiring at the same time.

     

    A compliment of twelve troops approached in loose formation.  The number was too large for a casual gathering and the ranks glittering from the collars and sleeves were no less than second captain and as high as sub-commander.  There were officers of the Romulan Fleet as well as from the Galactic and Interior Service.  Rau took a measure of satisfaction noting that none of the Royal Guard was among those gathering. 

    She turned to regard her Majesty and once again the woman transfixed her.  She was strong and intimidating and she responded to that combination out of training.  Beneath the steel however was a thoughtfulness and awareness that she had not seen before from one born to royalty.  She was not careless with her power nor did she take if for granted.

     

    “What’s going on here?” The hazel eyes bore into her deep brown and she did not look away.

     

    “I suspect this is the core of those who would challenge the monarchy from within the various services.”

     

    “How strong is their base?” Rhaina asked as she absorbed this information.

    4. Rhaina and Rau…sounds like a power couple to me! I feel sorry for Rhaina though for the pain Spock’s mating with Kirk brought her. But, you know that saying, where one door closes, another opens. I cannot express to you just how addicted to this story I am. Thank you for taking the time out of what is obviously a very full life to entertain us. We appreciate it very much!!

    6. Rhaina rules! Seriously, good timing. Nip that in the bud and let’s everybody know that even if she’s been off planet fo a long time, she’s still knows what’s going on.

    7. Bloody well skip shout outs from this point forward — just keep writing this incredible story. Hmmm…Rhaina’s reactions to the female figure of Rau are intriguing – I wonder if her wounded heart may lead her down a new path? I think she’s brave to enter the party — sounds as though there is way too much testosterone flowing at the moment.

    11. Kelika…another update (claps hands). You can always skip shout-outs if it means we get another update. This is interesting…will Rhaina start to fall for Rau and make a proposition to Spock? Will Rau as one guard be able to protect Rhaina against the mob? Can’t wait for your next update!
