    #2 Taken slightly aback, Tina replied, “Why Ms. Porter! Should I assume that you are of the same sexual persuasion that I am?”

     

    Chapter 2

    “What do you mean we’re in trouble?” Tina asked with the characteristic calm of a casino owner. “What did we do?”

    “Can we go and talk somewhere privately,” Bette asked dryly. “I’ll explain everything.”

    “Sure we can go to my office,” Tina said quickly. “This way please.”

    Once in Tina ‘s office, Bette looked around and noticed all the flat screens set up in the annexing room.

    “Your private ‘eye in the sky’ setup,” Bette said. “Very elaborate.”

    “Of course. Hi-Tech cameras and security are installed all over the casino,” Tina informed her. “Every table and all the slots are covered. And all hallways and access rooms as well. Now can you please tell me what this is all about?” Tina asked, trying to disguise her nervousness. “I can assure you we haven’t done anything illegal, so I really don’t understand what we can be in trouble for, Officer.”

    “Okay, well, let me explain,” Bette said, seating herself. “First of all, please call me Bette. Second of all, I am an Interpol agent and I am following a lead on someone. Did you notice that brunette your cousin was talking to in the bar?”

    “Yes, I had a brief look at her while we passed her,” Tina said. “What about her?”

    “Her name is Helena Peabody and she is a con artist we’ve been following for quite some time now. Her hobby is to steal jewels and valuables from casinos and she has already done so at a couple of them in Europe. Now she has made her way over to Las Vegas and I’m afraid she’s going to try something in the casinos here as well.”

    “Oh I see. Well thanks for informing me. I’ll ask my staff to keep an eye on her,” Tina said very steadily. “But how do you know for sure she actually cons the casinos, I mean how does she do it?”

    “The fact is that every time a casino was duped our Ms. Peabody was a guest there as well, so it is pretty obvious she has something to do with it,” Bette explained. “The only thing is that we don’t quite know is how she operates and if she gets some inside help.”

    1. Laughs. Oh my gosh. And to think that I am writing a colab with Caramel4Vanilla about Helena being a con-artist. (: This story has only made me more intrigued. I can’t wait to see where this goes. It’s a Tibette, right? Grin. PPS.

    8. Gee, I don’t know. I think Tina was right both times, Alice can’t keep her mouth shut and would also love to play spy. The first tends to cancel the other. Bette better make sure she knows can’t eat her babycakes and have it, too.

    9. Thanks for the update. I see disaster written all over this. And the title of the story gives me other thoughts that I will not delve into in my comments. Seems I think too much and dissect stories too much for the author’s tastes sometimes. So I will keep my thoughts to myself on this one. PPS
