Even in the Quietest Moments, Chapter 30

    Chapter 30

Rosanna smiled at Angelica who reached for her.  She kissed Bette quickly in greeting and ruffled Angelica’s hair, much to the toddler’s delight.  She turned and greeted the blonde.

“Hello, Tina, nice to see you again.”  Rosanna said politely.  She could feel the tension between the two adults.  What had she walked into she wondered.

“Likewise” Tina responded but her smile did not reach her eyes.  “I’m off.  I’ll call you later Bette. Thanks for watching our daughter tonight.”

Rosanna felt her annoyance rise at Tina’s cavalier attitude. The inflection with which she said our daughter kicked her irritation up a notch.  She looked quickly at Bette who seemed to be struggling to control her emotions.

“It seems there has been a change in plans” Rosanna remarked to get Bette talking.

“Yeah, you could say that” she mumbled.  In a clearer voice she continued.  “Tina had a last minute business dinner and apparently Angelica asked to stay with me.  I hope you don’t mind.  Shane my next door neighbor was going to be the sitter but apparently Miss Boo here wanted her Mama B.”  Bette smiled at her angel.

“That would be my choice too” Rosanna joked.  “Should we reschedule?”

“No.” Bette answered. “It alters the plan but I love to spend some time with you tonight if you’re ok with the company.”  Bette looked at Rosanna fully for the first time since her arrival.  The peace that she had come to associate with Rosanna was making its presence felt.  In the relatively short time that she had known her she was taken by how calm Rosanna remained no matter the circumstance.  The only time the brown haired blue eyed woman lost her composure was when she was filled with passion.  The images of the woman filled with passion made her smile.

“Well if you mean that perhaps you should invite me in.”

                Bette laughed.  “Please come in.”

They moved into the house and shared an unexpectedly nice evening with Angelica.  The romantic dinner that Bette had planned easily turned into a family style dinner that Angelica enjoyed as well. Rosanna helped to clear the dishes and Angelica wanting to be near her was allowed to help as well.  Rosanna indulged Angelica’s curiosity and allowed her to pull out the pots and pans that Mama B would always take away from her.  It had gotten too quiet in the kitchen and when Bette went to investigate she found the two of them sprawled out on the floor using the pots like lego’s.

Angelica flashed Bette the trademark smile that told Bette that she knew that she was doing something that she wasn’t supposed to be doing then to add insult to injury scooted closer to Rosanna and laid her head in her lap while she carefully examined the pot lid she had in her hand.  The pleasure that was in Rosanna’s eyes when she met Bette’s took Bette’s breath away.

Finally it was bed time and Angie kissed ‘Sanna’ goodnight while she toddled with Bette to the bedroom.  “Call Mama T say goodnight?”  Angelica looked up hopefully at Bette.

                “Story first.” Bette answered.

In the middle of the story Tina called.  “Hi, I took a break to say goodnight to Angie.  We need to talk, will you be free later?”

“Tonight is not good for me Tina.  Let’s talk tomorrow ok?”  Bette hedged. As much as she wanted to blast Tina for her earlier comment and for expecting Bette to drop everything to talk to her she did not want to get into a fight right now.

Tina was silent for a minute before responding.  “How about you come over to my place for dinner tomorrow?  I’ll cook.”

“Alright.”  Bette agreed. She gave Angie the phone and she and Tina had a conversation that made little sense from her end but her daughters smile made it seem like it was the best conversation ever. Angie fell asleep quickly and Bette found Rosanna waiting for her in the living room.

    1. … I’m so confused … But by the end of this story, I expect a full-out brawl between Rosanna and Tina, and whomever comes out on top can be the winner… wait… oh well, I don’t care how that sounded, though that does make for an interesting alternative to Bette having to decide…

    2. Wow!!! another chapter!! I’m loving it. I knew alpha-Bette will take Tina to task for that “handle your business” comment. I can’t wait for the fireworks that will accompany dinner tomorrow. But I expect that Bette and Sanna will have a good night before the dawn. Make an NC-17 please. Thanks.

    3. Brawl? Hehe. I’d much rather see Bette make a decision on her own. It would be ignoble of her to string both women along for too long. One or the other is bound to get hurt so Bette needs to make a choice, and fast, IMO.

    4. This is fiction, I know this is fiction! I don’t know why my heart is reacting to this story as if this is really happening. It seems like I am one of the very few TRUE TIBETTERS reading this story. For me it’s Tina and Bette, no one else!!! I don’t understand how one can claim to be a Tibetter and not want them together. Well, even though I fill you are about to kick Tina to the curb and have Bette and Rosanna live happily ever after, I’m not jumping off the bus! It’s a rough and rocky road, but I’m along for the ride! Hopefully, before you end this story, you will rescue Tina and let her find someone to make her happy….’nuf said!

    5. ( *Don’t fret yet, ladichi – who knows, maybe Bette will decide that she likes/needs a bit of irratic behaviour in her life? Or maybe that Ro is too independent, and ends up more like good friend or a sister than a lover?… its not over til its over ;) …And thanks for writing it, kelika!

    6. Ah, I don’t think Bette is NC-17 with Angelica in the house. Stringing along? She hasn’t even told Tina she’d give her the time of day. Dinner should be interesting.

    7. I’m a total true blue TiBetter and I’m with ladichi. I’m not ok with either of them being with someone else…Ever..Fanfick or the show. I continue to read Kelika because you are good and you give HOPE.

    8. I so hope that Bette puts Tina in her place. Tells her to back off and leave her alone. That they can try to be friends and be good mothers to Angie, but that it. I think Bette and Rosanna are Great for one another. Thanks Great Story
