    Fall in Vermont Chapter 12

Chapters 12 – When fates collide

There was an odd silence and everyone looked confused except William
who looked shocked. “Tina, this is our cousin William” “This is my
friend Devon from Hawaii” said Tina.

William took a seat at the kitchen counter and put his head in hands.
At first Bette didn’t understand what was happening and what this all
meant. “Actually, I am both people” William said in a quite tone. Tina
went and stood by him she was not certain if she was angry or just
shocked. “Devon these are your cousins?” William nodded his head. “So
what’s with the name change?” Kit answered, “It’s his middle name
    William Devon”

Bette could see that Tina was pretty upset and then in a flash it hit
her. Bette looked over at Jessie playing with her dolls and at William
and remembered Tina talking about Jessie’s donor father and now Bette
felt like she needed to sit down. “Tina, maybe we should step outside
and talk” William said looking upset and still in shock. He immediately
figured out that Bette might be her ex-lover.

Tina had never talked about her by name she was always known as “the
ex”. Shane went and took Jessie and led her outside for a little walk
knowing this was not anything for her to hear.
“Tina is Bette your ex girlfriend?” William said in a hushed tone. By
this time Tina was sitting at the counter looking very pale and
trembling a bit. “I don’t understand ” You could hear Tina say.

“So explain how you know one another” Kit felt left out of the details
that were making Tina, William and Bette upset in someway. “I met Devon
in Hawaii, we began good friends and when I expressed that I wanted to
get pregnant he agreed to be my sperm donor”

No one said anything for what seemed like a long time. Then out of
nowhere Kit started laughing. While everyone was starring Kit kept
laughing and then Tina started laughing and crying. “I don’t know what
to think” Bette said in a small voice. “Of all of the sperm in the
world, I managed to find someone related to Bette. This is so fucking
bizarre you could never make this up”

“So Tina what are you doing here?” William was still confused. “A
couple months ago some of our friends from L.A. created a surprise
reunion for Bette and I. And Jessie and I came out here for Christmas
at Shane’s invitation because I wanted my old friends to see Jessie and
I wanted to spend more time with Bette” Bette looked at Tina with a
great deal of tenderness that second part of her story made Bette’s
    heart soar

    1. I hope Devon is smart enough not to cross Bette in trying to be in Jessie life. Then Tina will set him straigh on who the real parent will be. Doe he have the money to take her to court for rights to Jesse. Bette has more. . Thanks for posting.

    2. Oh my goodness, this is just wonderful. I am so happy that there is someone out there that wants them together again and with a family. LOVE IT. Just keep Devon out of their hair and lives. I think he could be a problem for them. Let Bette adopt her before he gets the idea to insinuate himself as the second parent. This post was wonderful, THANK YOU THANK YOU. Post soon please.

    3. I agree with so many of these comments that have been placed here about your story. Jwet’s comment about the texture and flow of the characters rings true for me also. Your style of writing helps the characters to leap out of the written word and into a screen of their own (even if that screen is in my own head). Take it easy and I will wait for your story whenever you can write. Thanks!

    4. Well Ms. Chaka, I was thinking it was late and I should go to bed, but then I saw you had posted, so I had to read. Glad I did. Keep Devon on a short leash please. Don’t let him try to usurp Bette’s place as parent, OK? Otherwise, everything’s just grand.

    5. Awwwwwww this is so sweet and amazing. You are amazing Chaka – the way you write is so fantastic and wonderfull, I love this…..Sorry to hear about your lack off time to write, but post what you can and I will definitely read :o))……Oh by the way I totally understand Bettes hesitation towards Devon, but I hope the 3 off them will work it out….Have a great weekend and thank you for this :o))

    6. Thanks for posting this wonderfully long chapter C…I know how tired you probably were by the end of this!! I agree with everyone else and hope that Devon doesn’t try to contest anything!

    7. I’m a little apprehensive about Devon myself. Chaka…Have I told you how much I love Friday’s. I hope life doesn’t get in the way of your writing too much…thank you for this story!!!

    8. That was an amazingly beautiful chapter. I can understand Bette being apprehensive of Devon’s desire to be in Jessie’s life. When he was looking at Jessie, he kept seeing her as his “daughter.” He wants to be in her life, but in what capacity? He agreed to be a donor, but I think he’s going to want to be an active figure in her life. I think Bette senses that is where he’s leaning towards. Love how B & T are taking it slowly and reconnecting. Thanks so much for this lovely chapter…later.

    9. Hey my friend. I know I congratulated you on the phone earlier, but I wanted to be the first to do so in writing as well. You have been a rock for me this past year, one of my closest friends, and biggest supporters…and for that I am incredibly grateful. And, because of who you are as a person, I am even more excited to see that others get to share in how wonderfully your mind and heart works. You have many gifts C, and I am so happy that you are sharing this one with those of us who love The L Word. Your writing is as big as your heart. Congratulations on this well deserved award…I can see your smile from here.

    10. Thank you Seahurst!I am really touched and very honored that so many of you love this story. I love this has been a wonderful experience.
