Chapter 2
Bette put her arm around Tina, giving her a small hug. Tina, still feeling tense, as well as wondering if she was really ready for this conversation, struggled with whether to relax into the hug or to stiffen up again. She didn’t want this to be one of those times when Bette could deflect the conversation when it made her feel uncomfortable. If they were really going to talk about this, Tina thought to herself, she was going to have to stay in control of the conversation. She realized she was letting her guard down and could easily let Bette get the upper hand.
Boosting her resolve, she said, "Bette, I don’t even know where to start. First, I guess I have to say that I don’t trust you anymore. I’ve tried to forgive you for stepping out of our commitment, thinking that with time, it would come. But frankly, it hasn’t. I’m still hurting, Bette—you threw out your commitment to me with that woman! You told me the night I found out that you loved me, but if that were really true, you wouldn’t have slept with her!”
Bette wanted to respond, but she wasn’t sure if she should. She understood that this was a long overdue conversation. Besides, it was hard to speak in her own defense—she really didn’t have one. Bette decided to hold her peace for the time being.
“It seems like you have something to say”, Tina said, noticing Bette’s change in body language as she shifted uncomfortably. “Do you?” she said, almost as a challenge.
“No…go on”, Bette softly said.
“I couldn’t believe you would do that to me! I was still hurting so bad after losing our son, and I thought you blamed me for what happened. I needed someone to talk to. But not just someone—you—and you weren’t there! In Palm Springs, while we were telling our ‘coming out’ stories, I told them you were my “first, last and forever”. I never really ever considered doing anything more than look at another woman the rest of my life. But,” as the pent-up sorrow manifested itself in her cracked voice that came out just above a whisper, “you obviously didn’t feel the same way…” Her tears began to fall silently.

Okay Arr, I am putting my trust in you to keep from breaking of Tibette heart. There is still a lot of pain with the Candace affair. Hopefully Tina will realize that she is just lashing out and that all she does want is Bette.

LOL..moreover.I like Tina a little fiesty, and at least she’s talking, so i’m happy. I don’t really need to hear what Bette has to say right now. Tina needs to get some few things off her chest shoot. I applaud her for leaving and slamming the door behind her. But she needs to come back, sooner or later and finish the converstaion. Post soon!

Only thing Tina did was asked questions…..She didnt even let Bette answer them…..Maybe she isnt ready for the truth…..What she needs to do is go back in that room and let Bette talk to her……And I thought she was suppose to talk about her feelings for men? While I have a lot of rage at Tina right now, I think her angle is definitely justified, as well as her anger. Even though I could never be mad at Bette, personally… And going from Bette to ANY man is still… mind-boggling.
Arr! well that took a turn for the non producative kind! Tina is right…there is a lot of dyke drama going on. I certain that you know my feelings in regards to this Tina…but I will continue to read…because you write it so well And I’m curious as to how you’re bringing it around! I know you saw that I was somehow rejecting your heritage when we had the argument about Marcus Allenwood as the donor.But I told you it was because I didn’t know him! Am I lacking, somehow, in enough color for you? Were you getting tired of my pale skin and blonde hair?” Now THAT for me was the “oh shit!” moment. I totally agree that the FF writers should clue in the TLW writers as to what is dramatic. To even include that as a possible subversive dynamic of their relationship is a true talent. Additionally, with Tina walking off after asking all of those questions leaves me to believe that she was not ready to hear the answers…and neither was Bette at giving them. I like that you have your finger on the pulse of some core issues in lesbian relationships. Please continue to post and more frequently…please :)
I hate it when I am trying to have a conversation with someone and they are talking and answering the questions for you…give Bette a chance to answer…you might not like the answers but the not knowing won’t eat at you like a cancer until you make yourself sick with bitterness. Imaginations can run so wild that we make a bad situation worse in a matter of seconds. Tina get your azz back there and finish talking. Then if you want a dick well then….NO you can’t have one …lol
This wasn’t even a discussion it was a monologue and a temper tantrum it shows Tina’s poor commnunication skills. Also there really isn’t “Dyke drama” happening with them. Infidelity occurs in the hetero world too, so if you want to leave Tina do, at this point don’t blame Bette.

This, my friends, is what I call an “oh SHIT!” moment. Tina stormed off which wasn’t very smart. But after a bit of a cooldown period they should be able to start again with this painful discussion. Please continue!
uh oh……and i agree with lament……that is definately what u would call an “oh shit” moment…..lol……woww……….erm……we need some of these writers on this site, to write for the show, as Ilene seems to have a one track, narrow mind when it comes to bette and tina………bring on some more…….i am waiting……….

Tina never gave Bette even a chance to explain for herself, but I know by experience that cheating is a terrible thing and it goes beyond dike drama. The longer they wait to bring it out in the open, the more the cancer is spreading. Tina definitely is going to listen to Bette, but she’s not ready at this moment. The anger is still to much there. They both know for sure now that the first brick is placed, the other ones will follow accordingly. You’re doing a great job, thanks for sharing.
