Part 2, Seal the Deal

Bette and Tina were busy listening to Kit ramble on about her challenge to Ivan as the girls made their way through the back door. Alice raised an eyebrow to Angelica and said, “Well, well, looks like someone woke up early again. You’ve outdone yourself, Earth Daughter,” as she pointed to the spread on the counter. She walked over and was slapping some cream cheese on a bagel when Bette said, “I take it you are all in on this?”

Shane looked away and took a seat next to Angelica at the table. Jenny just stood there holding her back pack in the doorway, and Alice figured this was as good a time as any to voice her opinion. “Yeah, about that. Kit, I want you to know I totally support you on this. Really, I’m on your side, I want you to win and all that jazz, but what happens if you…lose? I mean, if I remember him correctly, Ivan’s got scraps.”

“Baby girl, please, you’re talking to someone who has graduated from the school of hard knocks at least twice. I mean, I’ve had to fight my whole life and what has Ivan had to fight for really, the right to wear a strap on? Please…Any Tom, Dick or Sally can wear a strap on.”

Tina smiled, well that is a lot to fight for, Kit. Imagine how hard it must be for Ivan to make his way in the world dressed as a really hot female, male. I bet no one takes him seriously because he’s so…stunning as a woman, ya know?”

Bette reached over and taking Tina’s hand, said, “Well, we all can relate to that, can’t we, T? No one thinks we’re lesbians, I mean, Shane and Alice don’t have that problem but Tina, we have to fight everyday too, we fight everyday against lesbian stereotypes.”

Alice finished her yawn and said, “Yeah, that uh, that must be really hard…for you…”

Jenny was chillin by the door taking it all in, as good writers often do, until she finally said, “So are we going or what? I’d like to get started, if you ladies don’t mind, that is.” Bette said, “Get started with what?” Turning to Kit she said, “You don’t really think we’re going, I mean, Angelica has school this week.” Kit interrupted, “Oh but baby sis you have to come. I don’t think I can do this if you’re not in my corner. Tina, baby, can’t you girls just take a small vacation? It’s not like you’ve all been anywhere as a family in a long ass time, I mean shit.”
